mysticmomma Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I was looking for some of her old freebies but now I have to pay $30 to subscribe for a year. I just wanted the schedule for chow. When did she switch to a subscription? Are there any freebies left? Where might I find just a schedule for chow? Quote
2_girls_mommy Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I found out the same thing recently when I went to look at some things. :( Don't know when it happened. I haven't used anything from there in awhile, but am starting to plan next year and went to look for some forms to use. Not going to happen I guess. Quote
domestic_engineer Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 It happened last fall ... http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/564718-donnayoungorg-requires-a-subscription/ Quote
mama25angels Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) I think if it was donated by someone else it will still be free. Look at the history section on the main page. Edited May 30, 2016 by mama25angels Quote
MerryAtHope Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Some of the Apologia schedules that were donated by others are still free. I'll bet you could find a schedule for CHOW by googling, or by looking on some of the yahoo groups. I'm surprised it took this long (but bummed to miss the occasional free printable calendar). I might have subscribed for $10 or so, but it's $25 for ad-based or $40 for ad-free. I just don't use it that much. I was reading on another thread about a mom that has her kids print up a "semester at a glance" calendar from this page where you can customize how many weeks, put a title on etc...). I like that I can put my school name on it. I made a yearly one for my planning, and also a semester one for my son, for his school planning. 2 Quote
mysticmomma Posted May 30, 2016 Author Posted May 30, 2016 I've been googling to no avail. It's not free even though it was donated. Phooey. Quote
AimeeM Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Yeah, it happened last year. I love her calendars, but I'm not willing to pay for it - because that's literally all I used from her site. 1 Quote
Holly Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I had one planning form that I used every single year to plan for the coming year. I was a bit sad not to have it, but it's totally not worth paying $30 for it! Quote

SevenDaisies Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 You can purchase items individually. I balked at the $30 subscription, but later found I could purchase what I wanted for $2. 5 Quote

Interesting, I didn't see that option when I looked about 2 months ago. Either wasn't there or I missed it. I'll have to look around again :-). Quote
LisaKinVA Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I only used one thing from her site, the subscription just spurred me on to make my own (some of the forms are really easy to do). 1 Quote
SparklyUnicorn Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I don't blame her for charging. On the other hand, many of those forms you could easily make yourself. You can find all sorts of calendar pages for free on-line. Quote
SilverMoon Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I'm pretty sure my favorite files from DY are saved to my computer, and they've been used fairly heavily over the umpteen years I've been doing this. I'll have to get the membership at least once just to say thank you. 2 Quote
lorisuewho Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 If the price was for a lifetime, I'd definitely do it. Just seems a lot to have to resubscribe every year for the dated materials. Quote
Ruthie in MS Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 This is kinda sad. I've used some of her planning forms. I've tweaked many of them. In fact, that's how I learned how to make my own! While I appreciate it while it was free it is in no way near $40 per year subscription. I agree with the members in the older linked thread, you'd be better off buying from Etsy or Teacher Pay Teacher where you can pay per form or per download. I'm glad I saved the forms I have used and loved. Quote
