YaelAldrich
That's what seemed to happen here. They (3/4 of my kids) got their varicella shots at different times and places. Last week, one came down with multiplying spots that looked like mosquito bites but there are no mosquitos in Boston at this time of year. No fluid in them, no fever, no malaise, but very itchy. Our ped didn't want us coming in and diagnosed by my description and a friend who is an infectious disease specialist looking at them Then those went away. Now another kid has spots too, and the last one (who is at home) has one suspicious spot. They are tired of being stuck inside, I am tired of their whinging. Anyone had a similar thing occur? Rosie_0801
Dd has been vaccinated but contracted a fever and headache that lasted about 4 days after being exposed. I wouldn't have known it was chicken pox if she hadn't given it to my brother who actually developed the pox.
kewb
My kids were vaccinated. One got the chicken pox a couple of years later when there was an outbreak at his school. If I had known then about the effective rate of the CP vaccine I would have just tried to have them get it when they were toddlers.
Zoo Keeper
Yes, one of mine came down with a full-blown, NO doubt about it, case of chicken pox following his vax. Head to toe. Another child came down with the measles following his MMR vax. :001_rolleyes: :sneaky2: We better have us some immunity. I'm not going through that again... cave canem
My children weren't vaccinated for that and all had the disease at young ages. Our neighborhood elementary school, where all of the children had been vaccinated, had a chicken pox outbreak a few years ago. Also, close friend of my daughter got the pox (not immediately) after vaccination.
PinkyandtheBrains.
Both vaccinated. One caught a very mild case.
Guest
Nope. I haven't seen a kid with chicken pox in twenty years. One friend told me her kid got a mild case after the vax. That's it.
Mom22ns
My dd did. She got it in pre-school. It was a ps pre-school so the vaccine was required. Almost all the kids got chicken pox (something like 15/18). Dd was the last to get it and had the most severe case. At least now she has lifelong immunity. bettyandbob
All 3 of mine vaccinated. Oldest got them about 3 or 4 months after being vaccinated. It was a very mild case. Just a few pox and a tired grumpy kid. It was over within a few days.

Random
Yes, mine did. DS got the vaccine at 18 months then had the pox about 3 years old. I took him to his pediatrician who gave the dx. Two weeks later, his 15 month old not yet vaccinated brother came down with it.
wendy not in HI
One of my kids who HAD chicken pox at 18 months, got chicken pox again at 11 years old, so even the disease isn't a guarantee that you won't get it again... We also had a 3 year old who had shingles across her back, and lots of crazy cold sores around here. Seems like a tricky virus!
