smoore530 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm attending a homeschool convention in 4 weeks, but I need math and spelling curriculum NOW! I'm going to buy Teaching Textbooks and Spelling-U-See. Do you think their booths will have a convention discount worth the wait, or should I just buy it online so I can start using them ASAP? Thanks. Quote
PeterPan Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Savings are usually to balance out the tax you'll have to pay. Buy now and be done with it. TT is pretty controlled for pricing anyway. Quote
My4arrows Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Most places I've bought from don't really offer discounts, but rather the free shipping, so for me that's usually all I save. Quote
Rachel Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Most booths seems to just offer free shipping. Zondervan did have 50% off everything last year, but they don't really sell curriculum. Also Jim Weise has deals for audio books I don't remember the prices though. I do usually end up buying at convention because I can buy in person, I love being able to put my hands on things and being able to compare too. Go in with a list or you may be tempted to spend way too much ;). Quote
Julie of KY Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Oftentimes, I go to conventions and make a list, but buy it online as I can frequently get better prices that way. Quote
Momto4inSoCal Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I usually just use conventions to flip through stuff I am interested in and buy online later. The sales aren't that good imo. Some curriculum is hard to figure out based on samples and there's always a rep there that can answer questions so that helps. Quote
Um_2_4 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Only deal I saw at those were free shipping. I bought MUS primer for my twins at the time. TT I just buy used online and never had problems. Quote
cintinative Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 It depends. CAP had a 15% off last year in their booth which was marginally better than 20% online and having to pay for shipping. Some booths have no discount though so you are really only saving shipping. Quote
