P.S. courses weird question!

Recommended Posts

Our high school has PE every day. No block scheduling. The next closest high school does block scheduling, but semester blocks, 95 min every day for a semester, so they would be meeting every day for PE too. Most of the kids I know in that district do PE in summer school so they don't have to give it that much time.

It varies around here because schools can handle it differently, but it's just a regular class most of the time. Kids only need 1.5 credits though, so that's a year and a half, meaning that most kids will spend most of high school just not taking PE.

I'm in Illinois. Our local public high school offers many choices for PE and, IIRC, a student attends daily.

10 different dance classes

Strength training classes

Yoga and core/pilates

Yoga and self-defense

Lifeguard training (one semester)

Self-directed fitness programs overseen by gym teachers

Lifetime sports and games: basketball, badminton, volleyball, football, soccer, etc.

Outdoor ed: orienteering, kayaking, rock climbing, rappelling, camping, high ropes, back country cooking, search and rescue, etc.

Team sports

All students have to take one year of wellness, one semester of very detailed sex ed, and one semester of swimming.

Kids who play sports can get out of the PE requirement except wellness and sex ed and they would have to pass the swim test.

What is public school P.E. like these days? Does it meet 5 days a week?

For other p.s. highschool classes, do they all meet 5 days a week or do some meet less often?

Our local high school, classes meet every other day for longer periods of time (They have A schedules and B schedules)
