Auvi-Q recall

I am on hold with Sanofi right now and they were playing part of the score from Schindler's List! Not appropriate!

I ordered one from our pharmacy in case it isn't in the recall. She didn't know about it. I know I am dreaming that it isn't part of the recall but honestly as a mom that has lost 3 kids I know how I would react if my son couldn't breath and counting may be difficult for me. So I am hoping.

If I can't get one, then I have an appointment with the allergist for me on Monday. So I will get a script for the other kind then (for my child). I have a feeling that I am going to be issued one that day too. :(

ETA: They are playing another song from a movie that was sad... can't remember the name of the movie. The song was by Barry Manalow. The movie was from the 80's. They need more upbeat waiting music!

Check with your pharmacist. I found out because I got an autocall from mine telling me "Your prescription is ready at Walgreens". Apparently my allergist sent out a prescription for epipens for everyone with an Auvi-Q prescription in their computer. I don't know how common that is, but it is definitely good service. My insurance company also covered it with the usual co-pay, which surprised me.

You shouldn't have to pay for it period. Part of the recall is reimbursement for the cost of a new pen.

yep, all are recalled at this point.  Our allergist was awesome to call in epi-pen prescription right after I called.  And we never pay for any of our pens.  Both companies offer $0 co-pay if you print out the coupon.  My allergist usually gives it to me, but the website offers it as well to print out.  AuviQ will refund the cost of a new pen if you can't get your new prescription for free.

My son likes the voice instructions for when he's at scout events and I am not there.  All the kids have seen/practiced with both pens, but my son was kinda upset the voice instruction pen is out of commission.  I am just thankful we didn't have to go in for a dr visit to get a refill since it's been awhile.....

Thanks for sharing.

We don't have AuviQs but I can imagine the headache if we had to replace all of our pens. And those $0 co-copay cards didn't stop our insurance from charging us 30% co-insurance. Yes, it was far less than the cash price but it was a long way from zero and on top of our high-ish premiums, our out of network allergist (mostly our fault, but our insurance barely covers above the cash price for in network specialists), labs (subject to deductible) --  it is so expensive.

I hope Sanofi comes through quickly on reimbursement.
