amyc78
Which do you prefer and why? We've played on starfall some but only the free portion of the site. We're currently doing a 2 week trial of Reading Eggs but I'm not sure I love it. Thoughts on both as a supplement to AAR- which is working great for us, we are just looking for some fun supplemental stuff
rachelpants
http://www.hairyphonics.com/ :) I saw this the other day....I haven't used it but it looks super fun. It says that it is O-G based in the description.
ElizabethB
Read, Write, Type instead. Easy for a child to do on their own and no sight words, it is focused on phonics and spelling.

ExcitedMama
I would love to know too. Can Starfall be used on an iPad? It seems like the iTunes Store reviews aren't very happy with it. Is the paid for part that much better than the app?
shawthorne44
The paid part of Starfall is a real disappointment after the free part. I like the letter sections, and the colors are good. But most of the rest is a dud. I like Reading Eggs, but then she sits in my lap, so I can't say about independent work.
FO4UR
I like Starfall for my 2yo. ;) She does the stories & songs, shapes, colors, etc... I pick www.talkingfingers.com for K-3rd. I used it with my big 3 kiddos, and it's in the plans for baby girl in a few years.

Funny because my kids gravitate toward the subscription site activities, over the freebies. :D
twoxcell
I prefer Reading Eggs. Starfall is fun but my kids didn't really learn any reading from it. 😉
strawberryjam
We do AAR. Just finishing up Level 2. Both my kids LOVE Reading Eggs. I love it too. It's a good complement to AAR.
blondeviolin
We've done both and both end up just being fun. BUT, I'd rather reading instruction come from me so both ended up being regarded as screen time. Educational for sure, but still a screen. ETA: We do still maintain a starfall subscription because my 5yo and 3yo enjoy it. And there's a lot more than reading there. They play it like my older two play BrainPop.
