Katy
Santa wraps some stuff in the stockings- special things or expensive things. Santa doesn't wrap the presents he leaves under the tree though, because we asked him not to. That way the kids can play with the unwrapped things and eat some of the candy in their stocking and let adults sleep in. They're not allowed to unwrap anything until we wake up. And if someone wakes us up before six they have to go back to bed.
Cindy in FL.
Yes. The kids get to open their stocking gifts before we wake dad up. I'm sure he appreciates the extra time that unwrapping them takes!
Pippen
I didn't used to, but then a very wise mother told me her secret to handling early waking excited/anxious children on Christmas morning. They could quietly get their stockings, take them back to their rooms, and have at it. I'd be sure to include things that would occupy their time (like a magazine, movie, or music) along with the usual treats. Then I'd wrap it all up so it would take them some extra time. I always had at least one early riser and this made the wait so much more bearable.
LucyStoner
Not typically. When we moved, we no longer had a mantle. So stockings hang from their bedposts. Upside: mom and dad get extra sleep as they are allowed to look in their stockings when they wake up. I suppose if I wrapped every tiny thing in said stocking, I'd get more sleep. Ummmm...nah, it's probably robbing Peter to pay Paul. The wrapping would invariably some off of some nights sleep.
PeacefulChaos
Sometimes - it depends on what it is. Candy or something little and hard to wrap - no. other small things (underwear, ornaments, other small things in boxes) - yes. Just because it makes more for them to unwrap. Nemom
I put "sometimes" because it depends on what it is and what kind of packaging it is in. If it is in a nice square box then "yes". Pair of drumsticks-I don't think so. Hand warmers from the dollar store or candy-also a "no".
