melmichigan
This is a cross post to my status update. Sorry, but this is important enough to be redundant about. :) Please google search your child't online presence if they are taking online classes. I just found out my daughter's full name and picture were available via google, tracking back to her account with an online class she is taking. These were required fields when she registered for the class. I have looked and others in her class are showing up the same way when searched. OneStepAtATime
 Well, that's lame. And concerning. Can you contact the school? And thanks for posting this.
chiguirre
Thanks for posting. I just found out dd shares a name with a minor Mexican celebrity. I thought her name was unique...I was wrong. OTOH, my dd doesn't show up on the google search of her name, so that's good.
idnib
Just checked, thanks. He's taking an online class with some not-so-tech-savvy people so I'm glad for the reminder. It wouldn't have surprised me if somehow his info was out there.
Hoot
Well, that's unsettling. Luckily, the one online class that ds is taking doesn't allow the use of last names at all. Thanks for posting. I just found out dd shares a name with a minor Mexican celebrity. I thought her name was unique...I was wrong. OTOH, my dd doesn't show up on the google search of her name, so that's good. When ds was a baby I had a website. DH tried to Google my name to find it because he had lost the URL. In the process, he discovered that I share my name with a porn star. That was an interesting conversation with dh, especially since his fire wall at work blocked any pics showing that it wasn't me but showed my name as being credited in several films. melmichigan
I have contacted the provider. If it can happen with one group it can happen with another so I thought it worth mentioning to everyone.
Jean in Newcastle
Thank you. I checked. Ds did not come up, though I've found out that there are "half a million" Filipinos who share his name.
FloridaLisa
You know, I just googled all of my adult kids. They have pictures and names online because of awards and scholarships they have received. Lisa
Kareni
My daughter shares her name with someone who lives in Europe and who recently earned a new belt in a Martial Arts sport. And my daughter's name is really quite unique (not!). Regards, Kareni
