Chris in VA
LOL--Can't seem to add text to that ginormous picture! Our church makes about 1500 jars of apple butter during this weekend. We sell some and give some away to guests and others. Profits go to outreach. Been doing it for 46 years--great fellowship! Angie in VA
What fun! I love the fellowship that is the byproduct of working together, especially at church. And look at all that pretty brick, and the lush green landscape around the church. Beautiful. What a neat project. My parents loved apple butter. :)
Luckymama
Good gravy, that's a lot of apples!
Annie G
That looks like lots of fun- and homemade apple butter is SO good! What a great project! Churches around here have fish boils and sell ham loaves. Ew to both. I'd much rather buy apple butter!!
fairfarmhand
I bet it smelled amazing!

marbel
What a fun thing to do. Wish I could come buy some!
gaillardia
:crying: I miss the way it smells in northern Virginia in the fall...apples, moldy leaves... :driving:I would live there if I could. What kind of apples did you use?
Chris in VA
We use a weird kind they actually buy in PA. It's like "Rambo Summer" or something like that--green, good cooking apple! The whole place smells like apple the week before when they bring them in, and like smoke and applesauce when they cook down. They also smoke pig butts at the same time...quite the combo! You're killing me here- fresh apples and roasted pork- what a fabulous combo! My mouth is watering. I feel like Peter Brady, 'Pork chops and applesauce'.
