dancer67
My 21 yo dd suffers from this. Twice she had been on antibiotics. Both her and her partner were screened for std's and both negative. Dr told her to take probiotic . Any suggestions on brands? She already does the no dyes/soap etc and no perfumed detergent or dryer sheets. She is frustrated. She went to whole foods but looking for suggestions maybe online in case it doesn't work thank you
NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
I don't know about the proibotics, but my dr. put me on a mini-antibiotic (Nitrofur Mac) for chronic BV and I have found it works well. I've also read that boric acid suppositories work as well for BV. I haven't had it since being on the Nitrofur, so I can't verify if it works. Hugs to your dd. tex-bex
How about a sugar detox? Sugar feeds bacteria.
Mergath
Probably tmi, but in my case I had to completely stop using tampons to keep it from coming back. Haven't had a problem since.

IfIOnly
Boric acid capsules as suppositories change the ph and easy to use. My ND had prescribed these suppositories, and they worked great: http://www.iherb.com/Vitanica-Yeast-Arrest-Vaginal-Support-14-Vaginal-Suppositories/42602#p=1&oos=1&disc=0&lc=en-US&w=boric%20acid%20yeast%20arrest&rc=10&sr=null&ic=
kbutton
I use Renew Life Ultimate Flora. I use the 50 billion, but they have several formulations. I like it because it has ten strains. She might need it as an ongoing thing, or she might use a high dose and drop back for a maintenance dose--they even have a children's chewable with some pretty good numbers of cultures. I think cutting sugar during the same timeframe is a good idea, but she might want to taper off a little bit if she is a sugar hound, or she'll feel pretty terrible. I would not continue to use antibiotics if they have proven ineffective--it just feeds an imbalance of all kinds of things in the body, IMO. Many people like to take in probiotics with lacto-fermented foods, so that is another option to consider long-term.
