Jasperstone
I can't stand it either- worksheets with alphabetical order drills! Anyone else with this pet hate?
Night Elf
If you don't think they are beneficial, can you just stop them? Or am I misunderstanding?
Jasperstone
If you don't think they are beneficial, can you just stop them? Or am I misunderstanding? Yeah, they mostly skip them, but they seem to pop up everywhere. I was just wondering if it's just our household that's so allergic to them. :svengo:
Garga
I always detested those as a kid. Still hate doing them. I just realizes we've not done them in hs. Maybe I should check that the boys can do them...

Muttichen
Understanding alphabetical order is an important skill. This is true, but when you know it, you know it. It's not something you need to keep drilling on. The next time they have them, tell them that if they get them all right, they can skip them from here on out. If they miss even one, they have to do the next one that comes up.
Critterfixer
You can always find other opportunities to drill it. We were at the library the other day and practiced the skill of finding authors arranged alphabetically. And someday I think I'll give them the task of putting up their fiction books on the the shelf in alphabetical order, just to keep them sharp. Or use all the spelling words in a list in a short paragraph in alphabetical order. Something like that. No need for worksheets.
OneStepAtATime
I agree, instead of worksheets, have them alphabetize your books. Or put titles of books on flash cards and have them physically arrange them. Make a game out of it. Maybe even a race to see who can alphabetize their own cards correctly first....
