Ravin
I want to get DS a new toy kitchen for Yule. He adores the hand me down toy kitchen we have, but it's falling apart. I prefer wood for this sort of toy, and have a limited budget. Today at Costco I found a great deal on a toy kitchen, Kidscraft brand, for $99. Problem is, it's in a pink-and-pastel color pattern. Yuck. I checked out the brand, and they have several similar styles in different colors that are much cuter and/or realistic looking. But they're $150 and up. Any suggestions? Spryte
You might keep an eye on woot.kids.com - they often have kitchens come up in their rotation. We bought ours through them, love the $5 shipping. Ours is wooden, neutral colors (some blue), and folds for storage (though we just keep it out). I think I saw one at our local Tuesday Morning recently, too. They had quite a bit of wooden play food, and I think the kitchens were on the top shelf. Good luck! mytwomonkeys
pinterest has the most amazing kid kitchens repurposed from side tables and such (or just google repurposed play kitchens and you will be blown away!!). here is an example. i'm sure you could do this fairly cheap if you salvage one from a yard sale, thrift store, or better yet - freecycle or craigslist! Mine had the large plastic kitchen set for years. It was worth it and well played with but that is sooo cute!
zoobie
IKEA has a really cute one. The Kidcraft kitchen is great though. I had the old ugly-pastel version for my big kids. It's worth the price tag but it takes a while to assemble! The Kidcraft isn't wood wood. It's particle board-type material.
garddwr
Ikea has a toy kitchen, don't know how much it costs but it is cute and not pink.
Mrs Mungo
I agree with mytwomonkeys. I have seen a lot of great repurposed entertainment centers and things that have been turned into amazing little kitchens. http://divineconsignoakpark.blogspot.com/2012/04/repurposing-your-entertainment-center.html?m=
Chris in VA
We had an Ikea one--still do in the basement storage room. Wish I could send it to you!
Ravin
I do not have the time or necessary level of enthusiasm to build/repurpose, or I'd do that to our existing one and repair/repaint it. I'll definitely check Ikea.
Jackie
We have the ikea one and it is awesome. Neutral and sturdy. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S49874533/
West Coast Mom
Zulily has Kidkraft kitchens right now. They usually stay up for about a week. Bought ours through them last year and have been pleased.
Ravin
I went and looked. zulily's "deals" are the same as direct from kidkraft and Amazon, where I could get free shipping.
