happypamama
CDs sometimes, occasionally tapes (I have an old vehicle). Mostly, I use a Sansa Clip (and DH has a Sansa Fuze, which is also good) MP3 player, but if the iPhone does MP3s, that would work too. Since my van has a tape player, I have a little device like this, which connects to the MP3 player and lets it play through the van's speakers: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Cassette-Adapter-Apple-iPhone/dp/B000FVDD30/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1368113171&sr=8-13&keywords=vehicle+tape Another option is a radio transmitter, which is what DH uses because his car has no tape player. We prefer the tape player adapter, though, as they've been a better deal for the money spent.
Jenn in CA
A radio transmitter that goes into the cigarette lighter then plug in your iphone. This one works great: http://www.amazon.com/Coby-CA-745-Wireless-Transmitter-Cigarette/dp/B000OTF6G0/ref=sr_1_2?s=mp3&ie=UTF8&qid=1368117994&sr=1-
HSMWB
Cd's in the car player. Faded to front, back or both depending on who wants to listen to it.
TKDmom
I have a tape adapter that plugs into the headphone jack on my iPod. DH just got a fancy new radio that has a USB plug and Bluetooth, so he can either plug in a thumb drive with his mp3s or play them off his phone via Bluetooth. His old radio didn't even have a cassette player (or a CD player), so he had to use a radio transmitter plugged into his phone.
TraceyS/FL
Tape player adapter and an iPod Touch so my phone stays as my phone. I'm so happy i'm not the only one with a cassette player in their car still!! :D
MicheleinMN
Cassette player adapter used with my pod or the inexpensive mp3 player dd has. (Unfortunately, my eldest son blew out my van speakers, so the front ones rattle now. I think he should replace those for me this summer, don't you?) FairProspects
We use an iPhone and an iPad with a cord that plugs into the stereo. I'm not sure exactly what type of input is on the stereo, but the cord also charges the device simultaneously.

Mostly CDs. Or my iphone. I have a tape to MP3 converter that goes in the van's tape drive and plugs into my iphone so I don't actually use the speaker on the iphone at all.
