kalanamak
I've clicked through various FAQs and see I can adjust "interest" but I can't find anything about blocking (e.g. today's) ad showing a shirtless woman covered with writing holding an ice pick in a posture that suggests pre-suicide. Has someone fixed this on their computer?
Twigs
At the top of the ad is a link for "Ad Choices". Click there and see if any of the options will work for you. That sounds like a very disturbing ad. Best wishes.

milovany
Yes, click AdChoices and find the area where there's a huge long list of ad categories you can choose / not choose. It's hard to find (grrr). I unchecked all the entertainment ones and it's made a big difference. Now I just get financial product and travel type ads, etc. It took a day or two for it to kick in. You can also pay $25/year for no ads -- for $2/mo., might be worth it.
kalanamak
Okay, I've tried two browsers and Yahoo says my browser doesn't support AdChoices. What if I click on every ad I see that is G rated? Will that send me more on that topic? (Like tax software?)
Clear Creek
Is there any way you can use the Firefox browser? Adblock Plus is free, and you won't see any ads, G rated or otherwise, anywhere.
klmama
I don't know how it works with Yahoo, but I sometimes improve the ads on my homepage by looking at shoes on the Lands End website. If you've noticed ads from sites you like, now might be a good time to visit them again.

Barb_
That is what I am using. Do you have the Adblock plus extension? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/

Clear Creek
Make sure you select a filter subscription after you install the add-on; it is a pre-made list of ads to block on common websites. The one I have is called EasyList, and it blocks pretty much everything.
Orthodox6
Is there any way you can use the Firefox browser? Adblock Plus is free, and you won't see any ads, G rated or otherwise, anywhere. I fled from IExplorer years ago, and use only Firefox. I don't know yet how to eliminate the gaacky ads. Is "Adblock Plus" an opensource from Mozilla? We have Verizon FIOS, but for unknown reason are stuck with Yahoo Mail. The ads are disgusting -- especially on our cell phones.

I looked at my settings and they were changed. I reset them to "no entertainment" and it seemed to take, but I've already started getting them again. I'm going to try the Firefox add-on noted above. ETA -- It worked! Thanks so much!

Is there a reason you don't use gmail? You can't use Adblock on apple products, but I'm almost positive they have one for Firefox on android. Barb_
Also, there is an Adblock plus for chrome if that's how you roll.

Adblock Plus is a free add-on to Firefox. Just click "tools" on your menu bar, select "add-ons," and search for Adblock Plus.
