What is going on at the house across the street?? - Please enlighten me!

Recommended Posts

I have no idea what they are doing, but every time you mention the RV, all I can think about is the show, "Breaking Bad." Have you seen it??

The characters use an RV as a rolling meth lab. I sure hope that's not happening across the street from you! (And, no, I don't really think it is.)

LOL! Yes!

DH suggested they were using the RV for drug runs, lol. I think I'm more curious than anything. We have HUGE windows in the front of our house and that's where our living room is, so I see everything going on over there. I swear I don't sit at the window and monitor them all day!

:iagree: This was my first thought too when you were mentioning RV's. :D

As others have suggested, I would keep a journal of all the comings and goings and then visit your law enforcement. I'm wondering if the dark-windowed car that has arrived twice is possibly some sort of detective work? Or, it could be another "organization" (think Sons of Anarchy type organizations ;)) scoping out the work of the people across the street from you for future "business" dealings.

Yes, I watch too many shows that deal with neighborhood corruption !

I'll admit....I've wondered about that. That whole house has strange goings on that always make me wonder. There is an exterminator van that seems to show up a little too often (sometimes multiple times a week) and NEVER takes anything out and only stays for a few min usually.

He (the son) also ordered a dumpster shortly after he moved in. We assumed he was going to empty out the house, clean it up, etc. Um....the dumpster just sits there most of the time....and has been there, now, for years. The son doesn't seem to be making any effort to clean the house up (it's kind of a dump) or clean out the garage (it is FULL of stuff that looks like junk) or anything.

Wait. He has had a dumpster for YEARS? We ordered one when we bought this house. It cost us $500 to order it and $10 a day past the 10 day mark.

I think I'd call the police dept and refer to the incident with the men halfway up your driveway, and then seeing them again. My guess is is that they are detectives. I would think that the local detectives would be very interested to hear what you have to say. I also want to say please be very careful taking those pictures. I would hate for you to get seen by the bad guys!

I wondered that too....would they be that obvious? Getting out, taking pics of license plates, etc?

I'm doing it through the little window in my front door (without opening the door) - I don't think they can even see me :)

LOL...I kinda doubt they are hanging out on a Classical Homeschool board.

Call the police on their administrative line. Tell the officer who answers the phone that you want to speak to a detective about a possible drug or chop shop in the house across the street from you. Do not mention Breaking Bad! :D Just state the types of activity you have seen, mention that you have taken photos that you will be glad to give them (if you want to), and let them draw the conclusions.

Do it today!

Okay.....really weird!

Today, the jeep and van were moved to the street. The RV left, and now he just showed back up with the conversion van from the other day.....only now it doesn't have any plates (it had WI plates on it the other day). He just left in the brown pickup with a bed full of random junk. The only thing I could identify in the bed was a bunch of car batteries (5-6 that I could see)....the rest just looked like scraps of things that were unidentifiable.

This is the part that lets you know most likely something criminal is going on. You should definitely contact the police.

Scarily enough, this sounds FAR more plausible to me than any of the more "straight" explanations. Just too many things that feel weird/don't add up. However, I REALLY hope this is not the case. We have a pretty quiet, older, but nice neighborhood. We do not live in an area of town you would expect drugs/crime.

Perhaps they're counting on most of the neighbors being (a) too old to suspect anything, (b) asleep, or © watching Wheel of Fortune.

Do you by any chance live on or near a dead end? :bigear:

Not necessarily. Some plates stay with the car. I think MN is one state that does, or at least used to. So it's not unusual to see out of state plates on used cars, dependent upon the state.

I would probably call the non-emergency line and let them know what you've seen. From the other visitors, it sounds like they've been checked on previously.

As someone else mentioned, it could be someone simply doing whatever they can trying to make ends meet during these times. However, if you see these guys, definitely call. (they're the characters on Breaking Bad)

Drug activity is absolutely happening with the 3 minute drive bys.

I doubt it is a chop shop, on older run down cars.

My guess...The cars are either being used to transport drugs (possibly from Mexico etc) or are being used for another illegal activity. They may have a connection to a cheap car lot (holding cars until they are ready to sell), but honestly with rusted cars/old cars that is not as likely as the possibility that he is buying/selling them cheap on Craigslist. People don't usually detail cars that are that old. LOL Another thought is that he could be taking cars as payment or collateral on drugs/money it is hard to say.

Concern about your fire.....could be a meth lab, and he didn't want to go up in flames!

I would call and talk to the police, they will likely know what is going on.

Yes, for real! It's a small one, but still. They come empty it every few months or so.

See.......

I did the same thing when we moved out of our old home. I rented it via the city and they charged me like $75 a month. It was a great tool for dumping old boxes, furniture, etc without going to the dump. One issue I had was a cranky neighbor two houses down from us who was trying to sell his home and lo and behold... there was an ugly dumpster sitting in front of our house. For 3 months. I did not like the neighbor as he was a big jerk. So, my passive-agressive side had to take my time cleaning the garage, house, bushes/tree clippings... LOL!!

Perhaps this neighbor is running a side business stripping cars, selling items, or who-knows-what. If it is a business... are you zoned for this? I bet the city would love to check and get the tax man after them!
