Halcyon
I am thinking of counting the days we do museums as field trips but i dont really know how legit that is. We will definitely be learning a lot! The only requirement of my umbrella school is attendance so I want to make sure I do it right LOL. Diana B
Do they have rules as to what counts as attendance? If there are no rules and you get to choose your own curriculum and do whatever you want as school, then yes - count it as school! If I had to actually keep track of attendance for an outside source, I would count all those kinds of days as school. :)
Jodi-FL
we've always counted trips that include museums as school. even schools that do multiple day trips (i.e. 8th grade trips) count the whole trip as official school days. NYC is awesome, and there is so much to learn even not in the museums! enjoy
justLisa
I don't see why not.

Harriet Vane
I definitely count museum trips as school. If public schools can do so, then so can I. Plus I know that my kids are actually learning when we go to a museum, as opposed to the public school field trips I see regularly who whiz past things too quickly or have kids that are too focused on socializing with each other to absorb anything academic. JenC3
Heck yeah. You will likely spend more hours in the museums than you do in class at home and I know you will have them learnng! We do a lot of field trips on Sat soI count those days as school as well. Helps even things out regarding sick days.

JESSICAinMD
It definitely counts in my book. Field trips days count toward public school attendance. Saturday or Sunday field trips count too.
Miss Tick
I can't even think of a devil's advocate way *not* to count it. Will you be using a map to get there and away? Will you be using public transportation? Will they be spending and making change? Will they be picking up a feel for the culture of the city? etc., etc. Plus, if you have them read a sign or two at the museum, that is just icing! (tongue in cheek here)
