athomemom
It's from the way I was sitting at the park yesterday on our blanket. Who knew one could get a sunburn in the middle of March?! It's bad enough that my leg is a bit swollen. The skin is tight and it hurts to walk. :( I have seen several suggestions online but what are some of your best/favorite home remedies for sunburn? I have been sunburned before but I have never swollen from one.
Chris in VA
Vinegar takes the sting out around here. Cool water helps, too. I got some sun today, too, walking the dogs. I have to be better about sunscreen, or I'll either get burned or be a prune.
frugalmama
Aloe is wonderful for sunburns. I don't know if it works as well on sunburns {I never get them} but mexican vanilla is great for cooking burns. It prevents it from blistering 90% of the time and makes it heal up much faster with no pain.
Rosie_0801
The aloe vera works even better if you mix in some lavender essential oil. Rosie
Mimmy
I second Rosie on the aloe/lavender. It helps a lot. Sorry you got burned, ouch!
mumto2
Aloe and vinegar both work. If it is really severe use those during the daytime plus put some zinc oxide cream (diaper rash cream with a decent zinc level works great) on it before bed. This can really help the discomfort and it should be significantly better the next day. Of course my family will tell you that I put zinc on everything skin related! But I do think it helps. Hope it feels better soon!
Miss Peregrine
Coconut oil is what we use. The redness is always gone the next day.
