Teacher's Lounge 3-7-12

Recommended Posts

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Teacher's Lounge! Hope you're all waking up bright and chipper; I'm having problems with that one.

What are you eating today? The kids had blueberry toaster strudels for breakfast. Lunch will probably be leftovers, and dinner will be stir-fry.

Where was your last vacation... and would you go there again? Our last trip was to Great Wolf Lodge last fall. We would love to go again, but the kids want to go to a different location this time.

If you could have a dream vacation, where would you go? I want to take a Grand Tour of Europe.

Happy Hump Day!

Happy Hump Day!

not bright or chipper. not enough sleep since last friday. Saturday I got 1.5 hours. Sunday night we brought home the new puppy. I now only get to sleep in 2 hour chunks before she needs to potty. Just like having a new born again, I am exhausted.

Eating today...I just finished off pb toast and a glass of milk to go with my motrin for the headache that is starting, lunch will be pasta and sauce, not sure about dinner yet.

Last Vacation... I guess was family bible camp last summer, ds got hurt on the second day in a major car wreck. Yes I would go again but the no longer run a family camp. The kids are going to do the kids camps this summer there though.

Dream Vacation...my dream vacation would be anywhere without kids or puppies so I can sleep lol. I do have a major dream/goal to take my kids to the west coast of Canada though, that is my current dream vacation.

Good morning!

What are you eating today? Today has been a day of quick and easy - yogurt and fruit for breakfast, soup and leftover sourdough bread for lunch, and spaghetti for dinner.

Where was your last vacation... and would you go there again? Big vacation or little? Last big was to WDW 3 years ago, and dh and I are already planning to go back in 2014. Okay, we've been planning almost since we left!

Our last little vacation was to Florence. It was okay. It's very touristy and not one of my favorite cities. I liked seeing David, but thought Michaelangelo's house was meh. I'd much prefer a nice spring day in Venice. It's more...interesting. The winding streets and little nooks everywhere make it a perfect place to get lost and have fun doing it.

If you could have a dream vacation, where would you go?

Morocco, or maybe India. Somewhere warm and full of history!

What are you eating today? You mean I have to feed them again :001_huh:

Breakfast -- probably nothing except coffee and tea

Lunch -- sandwiches or leftovers

Dinner --:confused: seriously you mean I have to feed them again

Where was your last vacation... and would you go there again? Last real vacation was in 2007. Went to St Louis and just saw the sights and hung out. Since then we have gone on 1 conference with dh and then a couple places with baseball but those weren't true vacations.

If you could have a dream vacation, where would you go? I would love travel all around the USA and see all the famous and not so famous sites. Cheesy I know but I have always wanted to do that.

BTW it also makes me sad that I can't take my kiddos on vacations. I remember growing up we went on vacations almost every year. We just can't afford it.

Good morning!:001_smile:

What are you eating today?

Breakfast and lunch will be my usual egg/bagel thin breakfast and salad with protein lunch. I'm with Baseball Mom on being  at the thought that I have to keep feeding this family dinner. I'm thinking that it will be a chicken stir-fry tonight.

Where was your last vacation... and would you go there again?

My last vacation was a medical vacation by myself to St. Louis to a specialist there. The medical part wasn't so fun but the being alone by myself for the first time in 20 years was wonderful. I think that specialist has exhausted his ideas for me though so I probably won't be back.

If you could have a dream vacation, where would you go?

My dream vacation would actually be going along with an evangelist we know and helping him. Our most memorable vacations have been working vacations where we really have gotten to know people where we were on a deep significant level.

Good morning. It is a beautiful day and we're expecting snow later which will be nice.

What are you eating today? Right this moment, I'm eating Greek yogurt with flax and cranberries while making grits for my youngest. Lunch will be either leftovers, sandwiches or pb&apples. Dinner is chili tonight.

Where was your last vacation... and would you go there again? Not counting our Christmas ski trip, my last vacation was to Perdido Key with a side trip to New Orleans and to my hometown. I'd love to go back and was planning to this year, but it will probably have to wait until next year because I'm going to the UP of MI this year instead.

If you could have a dream vacation, where would you go? Bora Bora - I'm a warm beach person.

Morning!

What am I eating today? Started out with nothing because I had to go downtown (to the VA) for a mammogram and decided I'd get the labs done that I was supposed to get done last week. Had to fast for those! Then, I ate 1/2 an egg, cheese, and potato burrito. Currently munching on sweet and sour chicken nuggets, ate a slew of really yummy blacberries, and working on the coffee I couldn't have earlier.

Where was my last vacation? Last October I went by myself to a town a couple of hours north of here. I was tired of the heat and couldn't get anyone to go with me so I said, "See ya later" and went. Thankfully, it's only a half hour north of the town where we have our timeshare so I was also able to spend the night! Thinking about doing that this weekend for my birthday. I'm thinking I just really need some time alone, without the daily distractions, to spend with my Savior.

Where would I go on my dream vacation? Aruba. I've been wanting to go there for a long time.

What are you eating today?

We had bacon, biscuits, and hard-boiled eggs for breakfast. The kids had sandwiches and cantaloupe for lunch. I had some ritz crackers and a cheese stick. I'm not sure what we're having for dinner yet.

Where was your last vacation... and would you go there again?

We went to Great Wolf Lodge for one night in February. It was a Christmas gift from my dad. We look forward to going back again some time. Other than that, we haven't been on a vacation in 4 years.

If you could have a dream vacation, where would you go?

I can't even imagine since it is so far from reality. Maybe Ireland? Europe?

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Teacher's Lounge! Hope you're all waking up bright and chipper; I'm having problems with that one.

No, I did not wake up either bright or chipper today. I had to drag myself out of bed, and it must be something in the air. When I passed through the dining room/office/homeschool room on the way out to walk with the dog, my son was stretched out across two chairs, wrapped up in a sleeping bag and out cold. Sigh.

What are you eating today?

Breakfast was the usual selection of stuff: biscuits, hash brown patties, toast, fruit, smoothies, etc.

I ate a banana, a piece of toast and a peanut butter crispy rice bar for lunch. The kids make their own lunches. I think my son ate the leftover twice-baked potato from last night with whatever other stuff he scrounged from the 'fridge. My daughter had "breakfast" at about noon and, therefore, skipped lunch.

Dinner is pasta with marinara sauce and garlic knots. The sauce is simmering away in the slow cooker, and the dough for the knots is doing its first rise as I type.

Where was your last vacation... and would you go there again?

We did a brief staycation at Walt Disney World at the end of the summer. (Hubby works for The Mouse, making it a fairly inexpensive get-a-way for us.) Back in June, we went to NYC as our daughter's graduation gift.

We would and will go both places again.

If you could have a dream vacation, where would you go?

Hmmmm . . . there are so many places I'd love to see. I've wanted for years to go to Egypt. I'd also love to take the kids to London. I wish we'd had the chance to take our son on one of the Disney cruises while he was still young enough to have enjoyed it.

I will always, always go back to NYC, though.

Edit: I forgot to say that my son and I share a fantasy of renting an RV and driving across the country, stopping at any place that catches our fancy. My husband and daughter are not great travellers, though. So, that one will probably remain a fantasy.

Today we had soup for breakfast, and lunch was a rice bowl with carrots, broccoli, onions, and pineapple. I delegated dinner, so I'm looking forward to being surprised.

My last vacation? I don't really remember. We fly somewhere every month or so, just little field trips or family visits, but I wouldn't qualify them as true vacations. Our last trip was a 3-day to the Turks & Caicos islands. It wasn't our first, and won't be our last visit there. We're headed back next month :)

I don't really have a dream vacation. I'm fortunate to be able to fly anywhere in the world that I care to go, and our lifestyle affords us the opportunity to take the trips/vacations we wish to. It's part of why I chose the career I did, and to homeschool as we do. We've pretty much done everything I've wanted to do, gone everywhere I've wanted to go. I guess the only thing I want to do, and haven't yet, is to go on a trip by myself. I've always had a tagalong, be it a sibling or spouse or kid(s). I'd like to go anywhere I haven't yet been and to experience it thru my own lens instead of experiencing it with someone else's influence.

This is my son and husband, too! Not me, I prefer to just fly wherever I need to go. They try to take a trip every year, depending on my husband's leave and work schedule - sometimes it's a weekend, other times up to a week. They just pick a direction, drive, and go .... it seems to be a great one-on-one bonding time between them. I highly recommend you and your son give it a go!

See that is kinda what I would like to do too. I have always wanted to do this. One summer before meeting dh I almost had a good friend of mine convinced to do this, minus the RV, just take my car. He agreeded if we could get the money but we were both short on money. Yes was planning on going with a guy but this guy was like a brother to me. My dad totally trusted him.
