love2read
host? Our family is going to start a blog and I'm to find a site to host it. A free site, that is. It seems most blogs I visit are blogspot.
Jane in NC
Thanks for asking this. I have been wondering about blogspot vs. wordpress.
missmoe
I use blogspot. I'm not sure if it is the best, but I've found it very easy to use.
KristenR
I love Wordpress and am very happy with it. My dh used blogspot awhile back and never cared for it so I just tried Wordpress when I started mine. I'm glad I did.
PrincessMommy
I'm happy with Wordpress, but I've never used Blogspot. I know people who have moved between the two and heard mixed reviews. Some are happier with Blogspot and others with WP.
MrsMommy
I love Wordpress...wouldn't use anything else!
Robin M
I love blogger and hate wordpress. LOL! Blogger was easier to figure out for me. Since both are free, see which is easiest for you to see up and make changes too. That will be the deciding factor.
Jane in NC
So what are the key differences between Wordpress, Blogspot and Blogger? Is this just a matter of personality, i.e. what we each interpret to be "user friendly"?
Shellers
You will be able to make money with blogspot not wordpress.com (they won't allow it). I suggest getting a shared hosting account ($5 - $10 a month) and buying a $10 domain. Then you are really in control and don't have to worry about your blogspot blog getting taken down for any reason because it does happen. If you go this route, use Wordpress.ORG. Wordpress is free, you can make money with it, it has tons of free and paid plugins and themes. Most pro bloggers use wordpress. I just want to blog to share projects, book reviews, etc. with friends and family. In fact, I rather dislike blogs that seem to have more advertising than content! I really want to avoid this. Amy Jo
You might want to use affiliate links. When I see wordpress sites, the keywords / tags for the posts go to ALL blogs. So it can be hard to read just one persons post on 'scheduling' or 'math' or whatever. In blogger clicking the tags only lists that blog's posts. I believe blogger and blogspot are the same. I use blogger for my free blogs.
love2read
Thanks, I'll take a good look at the three mentioned.
