Janie Grace
What do you do to get that clear (but colored b/c you add food coloring), unflavored shine on a sugar cookie? Egg white? Egg yolk? Before or after baking? Does anyone know what the heck I am talking about?!?
Lara in Colo
frosting? royal icing?
Melissa in Australia
I know what you are talking about. I have no idea how to do it. I thought it was made by making some sort of glaze using gelatin. Sort of like the glaze used on flan cakes.
Lacie
My aunt makes sugar cookies and tops them with a very thin mixture of milk, powdered sugar and food coloring. It is thin and translucent. Is that what you are talking about?

It is thin and translucent. Is that what you are talking about? Hmmmm, maybe. My MIL used to do this thin green wash on Christmas tree cookies, then thicker icing for the "garlands" and balls. She passed away and so I can't ask her. :( Thought someone here might know. I really thought it involved egg, but maybe I'm wrong.

Unicorn.
On cut out cookies, you color an egg yolk, and brush or paint it on before baking.
