Joyofsixreboot
That is the name of a child in my dd's preschool class. It is pronounced Harmony. Really:eek::001_huh:

twoforjoy
I'd say that's more "Why we need vowels." ;)
Spryte
Looks like that name belongs on a license plate vanity tag, not a little girl. What were those parents thinking? ("Vanna, I'd like to buy a vowel, please.")
simka2
I asked dd to write a shopping list for me. When I went to read it she had written "cewtips" instead of "Qtips." ;) Phonics gone haywire :D. Then I said "grout cleaner," but she wrote/heard "drought cleaner."I really wish there was such a product!!!! :D
Annie G
The crazy thing is that when I saw the title, I thought the poster's name might be Harmony and she was just 'signing' her title. I immediately read it as Harmony. But yeah, it does look like a vanity plate, doesn't it? I kind of prefer it to the trend of putting an apostrophe in every name. I make birthday cakes for a living- I see some unusual spellings.
fairfarmhand
perhaps they texted the child's birth certificate to the Health Department?

Sputterduck
Maybe they learned that Hebrew doesn't use vowels in writing and thought it was cool?
tashagwen
 Yikes! But I feel for the mom, she may regret her spelling now.. Like me :001_huh:... I wanted my DD's name to be spelled differently. We loved the name Brianna, but i didnt want people calling her Briana... We also wanted her nickname to be Bree.. So.. Breaunna it was .... Id change the spelling of her name if we had an extra $500+ laying around. I really HATE having to spell out her full name when we sign her up for stuff . Jamauk
DS had a little boy in his K class named "Kyden" but it was pronounced KAYden. I think the mom forgot a vowel....
Lawana
You know, my first thought about the Hrmny thing was Harmony. I would never spell a name that way, but it is, at least, pronouncible.
Caterpiller
lol I thought the Hrmny was like a funny way to write out a snicker or grumble. :p
kitten18
I'd say that's more "Why we need vowels." ;) :iagree: But seriously, that's so sad.:(
Belacqua
You know, my first thought about the Hrmny thing was Harmony. I would never spell a name that way, but it is, at least, pronouncible. I was thinking Hermione...
Kirch
I was thinking Hermione... That's the second one that came to mind for me. Poor kid. At least with most "creative" spellings people usually recognize that it's intended to be different. With this, she'll probably be constantly dealing with people who assume she (or whoever wrote or typed her name) left out a few letters.
