ChristusG
I thought about stopping by our local thrift stores to look for some easy readers for my DD. But then I got to thinking about the horror stories I've heard on here about bed bugs. I certainly do not want to go through that. So I'm a little hesitant to get books from thrift stores. Is this a valid concern?
justamouse
we've not had bedbugs here, so I'm not too worried.
Chris in VA
Never occurred to me. I suppose you could look for them before you buy--don't they look like dark, moving specks?:tongue_smilie:
Mommamia
I've been wondering the same thing. What about purchasing used books online? I've suddenly gotten a bit worried about that as well:glare:
Bang!Zoom!
lol...where have your "library" books been?
twoxcell
I'm not overly worried about it. I have never heard of anyone locally having bedbugs. The thought has crossed my mind, but I always flip through books before I buy them used.
reign
I just got a ton of books because of that thread. Bed bugs did not cross my mind. I didn't think they could live in a book.
tammyw
I don't buy used books but I get way too many books from the library and I have been worrying/thinking about it. I'm hoping and praying that this won't happen. The problem is most of our books come from other libraries (and we also use the LINK library system, so they are coming from ALL over). YourFidgetyFriend
I buy a ton of thrifted books and have yet to come across any living bugs in one. The things I've had to watch out for in kids books are marked up pages, dried food, and blood (presumably from nosebleeds). Bugs aren't an issue at all.
