My dd is 3. I want to do some crafts to work on our shapes and colors. I would like to buy some type of kit and book that would include a bunch of shapes in all kinds of sizes an colors cut out. I would like to book to give me ideas of animals, cute monsters, trucks and other objects we could make with the shapes. I could add our own swiggley eyes, pom poms, glitter, crayons and stuff like that to it. I thought this could teach shapes, colors, sizes, sorting, and counting. I thought those crafts with bed times stories, a couple of Sesame Street and Leap Frog videos, library story hour and lots of time outside would get us through a few months of very light fun school. I have googled but I am not finding anything. So do you know of anything close to that?

I absolutely loved The Learning Box Preschool! It did all the basic preschool stuff, but the best part was the crafts! Great ideas, and everything was included. If you needed 4 red pompoms and a brown paper bag, it all came in a baggie labeled for that day. SOOO easy. I *could* do my own crafts, but I just did a lot more of them when they were pre-tested for age-appropriateness and everything was already ready to go.

I saw this at convention last week, and though pricey I am still considering it, just for the ready to go factor! For some reason the site isn't loading now, but it's http://www.ready-madepreschool.com. It was really cute, and she has everything cut out for 30 weeks of school, separated into manila envelopes, and full lesson plans. It's hands-on preschool, not workbook preschool. Games, etc, all cut out and ready to go for you. She includes EVERYTHING you need, from q-tips and cotton balls to paint to glue to popsicle sticks, all sorted by weeks so you can grab and go. I really liked it! I thought maybe if I order this, I might actually occupy my preschooler well while I work with the others. It was set up to cover all the capital letters of the alphabet, and she hopes to make a next level with the lower case letters.

Sorry, wrong links. I should not read posts while my daughter is talking to me! :)

Here are some better links.

My daughter loved computer games, too. (it's been 5-6 years since we used some of these, and some we've never tried, so I don't know about the content.)

Confessions of a Homeschooler has a letter of the week curriculum that incorporates crafts and lots of hands on activities. I did these with my little one while her older sister was in preschool. You can buy a download that includes all the files in one pdf, or you can download the individual letter activities for free.

She also loved the Kumon cutting and pasting workbook.

  • 1 month later...

I know this is old, but this website is finally up. I wish she had more examples on there, but I know she is working on it. www.ready-madepreschool.com I know it has Christian undertones, but it's few and far inbetween from what I saw (for example, J is for Jesus....these couple examples could be changed easily if you so desired.) I'm still considering this despite the cost. I really, really love that she has everything all cut out and ready to go, and all the supplies there, labeled and separated week by week for you!

We bought this at the LEAH convention this year. When I told my sister about it, she liked the idea so much I went back and bought another box! We're going to do it with our 3 year olds this year.

There are a few book choices we don't love, but the ready to go factor is a huge plus for us!
