mothergooseof4
There are plenty of links for vintage LA curricula. I have seen some for science and history. However, I have pretty much only seen references to Ray's. Are there any OTHER vintage freebies for math out there?
Zoo Keeper
We like using Graded Work in Arithmetic by S. W. Baird. There are ( I think) 8 vol.; I wouldn't use it as a stand alone, unless you are a strong math teacher who has a strong math student (no scripted notes for teacher; you or the student may need extra explanation/practice for some concepts). I found this book on Don Potter's site; he has links to many others in his math section. Well worth a look or a download. Number Stories from Long Ago by David Eugene Smith (look on google books) is wonderful; history of math told in stories about children. There are questions at the end of each to chapter to talk or work through. My boys have enjoyed this as change of pace from "normal" math work. It has been especially good for my history lover who struggles with math. Edited April 28, 2011 by Zoo Keeper
Violet Crown
We have used Standard Service Arithmetics books from the 1920's for several years, as "arithmetic" (a subject we cover separately from "math") texts, for working on speed and accuracy in arithmetical operations. As a special endorsement, it was one of a few textbooks singled out by the President of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics as an example of the "bad old days" of math education. You've got to figure it was doing something right.

stripe
A few other things I am using to supplement: Primer of Industry by Austin Craig - for the stick arrangements, tile arrangements, tangrams, and such Paper Sloyd by Ednah Anne Rich - origami like paper folding work (divided by grade levels) for somewhat useful items rather than purely decorative Outlines of Industrial Drawing by Paul A. Garin Related to other applications of drawing, I am not using either of these at the moment, but they look interesting Lessons in Industrial Drawing by Mary Isabel Gilmore as does this, which applies drawing to dressmaking: Industrial Drawing for Girls by Edith Cary Hammond

Reflections
Given the thread on math textbooks, I thought I'd give this thread a bump in case anyone else was looking for an alternative to today's math books....
SorrelZG
I don't see New Franklin Arithmatic mentioned. It was a better fit for my son than Ray's. http://archive.org/details/newfranklinarit02waltgoog
silver
Grand-papa's Arithmetic: A Story of Two Little Apple Merchants This one reminds me of Waldorf math, but without the gnomes.

(eta, if you haven't seen these before, they are free PDFs from the School Mathematics Study Group. Try a search on SMSG)
nansk
Thanks for bumping the thread. I found two free texts yesterday (geometry and trig) and the author has recommended Arithmetic (grades 1-6) by Upton and Fuller.

Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
Thanks for bumping the thread. I found two free texts yesterday (geometry and trig) and the author has recommended Arithmetic (grades 1-6) by Upton and Fuller. I have these books. They are great for oral work... how we use them. Lots of facts practice but also heavy on the word problems.

Ameena
subbing - would love to find something for a 2nd grade level. We have some vintage middle school books I picked up at a used book sale, but dd isn't there yet.

quietchapel
A New Complete Arithmetic by White. Many other Math books on this site as well. I have this book. It was my great- grandfather's. It looks really good, and has some elements of some of the 'new' popular math options. I am thinking of working through it myself!
