Karen in CO
A similar name, other than Hailey which is my great-aunt's name, for a girl is Marley. My niece is Gabriella Marley.
elegantlion
I think of motorcycles. I also think of Harley Jane Kozak, the actress, as Ellie mentioned. You could always find clothes with her name on it though. :D
Stacia
Harlow instead? To me, this name sounds too close to harlot. :tongue_smilie:
indigomama
Sorry, the only Harleys I know are dogs. For some reason it's a very popular name for my friends to give their pets. So, now it's the first thing that comes to mind, second is the motorcycle.
Remudamom
A couple we know named their dd Harley.
DesertDweller
I know a teen boy named Harley, and his middle name is Davidson. Seriously. I like the name for a boy. A girl maybe not so much. But, it does make me think of motorcycles. I would think it would with most people.
Miss Cornelia Snook
Both Harley and Harlow make me think of "Harlot". And of course, there's always the instantaneous leather-clad biker image. So, no, it's not a name I would choose for my daughter. However, I have heard of several little Harleys born in the past few years. Someone I know named her daughter Hadley. gardening momma
Can Harley be both a girls name and a boys name? I say both and DH says only boy. Do you automatically think of motorcycles? Would it be assumed that parents of this child are motorcycle nuts? We do not own a motorcycle. Would this be okay? :D P.S. Are last name is not any form of Davidson. I think of it as a boy's name, and it does bring motorcycles to mind.
Medieval Mom
First reaction: I wouldn't choose it for a child. Ever. Sorry. But if that's what you decide, I won't say a word about it.:) Second reaction: Boy's name, not that I would name a boy "Harley" Third reaction: Motorcycle. Trivia: There's an actress named Harley Jane...something or other. She was in "Parenthood," and she played Richard Dean Anderson's wife on Stargate SG-1. Reverse the order of reactions, but :iagree: Sorry! :tongue_smilie:

Mama Butterfly
I think it's gender neutral. But I automatically associate it with a girl since the only two Harley's I know are girls. I think it's a cute, fun name:)
twoxcell
I say it sounds like a boys name, but I have heard girls named it. Personally I do not care for it for either boy or girl.
specialmama
I think boy and motorcycle. How about Haley or Hailey? Just as pretty but obviously feminine.
