We have a lot of picture books from Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears to Mike Mulligan. If you want chapter books, Beverly Cleary, E.B. White or A.A. Milne might be a good starting point. A lot of kids also like The Magic Treehouse audiobooks... and if it's for quiet time you wouldn't have to listen to them. We just pick audio books by going to the library and seeing what's there. A large percentage of chapter books and middle grades novels will be appropriate for 5 yos as audiobooks. Let him pick and try what's there. angela in ohio Posted February 15, 2011 Share Posted February 15, 2011 If you are okay with Christian materials, my ds LOVED the Your Story Hour tapes at that age. The history series are his favorite, with stories of George Washington, Henry Ford, the Civil War, etc. The nice thing is that they are 1/2 horu or 1 hour long, so he won't lose his place the next day when he comes back to the story.
