Wee Pip
What age would you allow a dd to shave their armpits? If you have a really young lady with hairy underarms, would you shave for them in the summer time? Weird question, I know. This summer, I had a 7yo and 9yo in this situation. And no, it's not the milk they drink:) None of their friends have this yet.
justamouse
let them shave when they want to. if it's something that bothers them, they're maturing faster just do it. rather that then them being mortified and embarrassed.
katilac
I would allow it at whatever age they have noticeable underarm hair. A wet/dry electric razor solves the problem of having to do it for them.

It is hard to cut yourself with it.

sagira
For me, if It's truly a forest there. If it's just scraggly hairs here and there, no worries. Depends on their comfort level too, and maturity in being able to handle a razor.
RebeccaS
My dd8 has quite a bit of underarm hair. She also has sensory issues, so prickly hair growing in is not going to fly with her, I think. She was unconcerned about her hair until some older girls at church mentioned it (not to her, but within her hearing:glare:) So, we talked about her options and she opted to trim it shorter, but not shave. I helped her do it and she's happy with it.
Pamela H in Texas
If they want to shave, they may. If not, no big deal.
mysticamethyst
If she wants to shave, I say let her. It comes down to how she feels about herself and if it will make her feel better about herself then why not. Shaving is not something I think happens at a set age. So many kids mature and develop at different stages. My youngest has precocious puberty and has had hair everywhere since she was 4. She noticed it at 6 and wanted it gone. Now she is concerned with her bikini area, she doesn't like hair there at all and she wants to shave that off. I have asked her not to but in the end its her body and that is one choice she can have, she is 11. All that said, my 14 yo, doesn't shave anything and has no need to either. It is tough to know when to let them grow up a bit and when to stop them. Good luck.:001_smile:
weaver_67579
She really could have used it a few years ago (especially during soccer and softball seasons)-but she didn't want to. She was starting to look like Chewbacca. I would have let her at 8 or

Pretty in Pink
I would let them shave their armpits if they were embarrassed by the hair.
