Prairie~Phlox
Family member birthday who loves chocolate. I'll probably make homemade vanilla custard as well. Any suggestions. I was thinking a bundt cake with cream cheese, but am open to other suggestions as well. Thanks, Phlox
HollyDay
I personally like the recipe on the box of Hershey's cocoa. King Arthur has a nice one: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/chocolate-cake-recipe that is yummy.
cjzimmer1
I agree the Hershey's recipe is best. I then put the frosting from Quiver's cinnamon roll recipe on the cake and let it set over night. The cake is super moist and heavy (but we don't like light fluffy cakes). My dad asks for it for his birthday every year.
mrsrevmeg
I made one recently that was the recipe from Hershey's Cocoa, and frosted it with Seven Minute Frosting that was really good.
helena
:iagree: Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate Cake is the best, especially when it has their frosting recipe too. Sometimes my daughter makes it with the extra dark powder, I prefer the regular. LuvToRead
I agree with the others. The recipe on the Hersey's box is both easy and delicious. The cake turns out very moist. I also love the icing recipe.
Dobela
I like Betty Crocker LOL. However if you are looking for something very rich with unusual flavor, try the Dr. Pepper Cake recipe at allrecipes.com. The chocolate and Dr Pepper are mixed to make a syrup that is added to dry ingredients. My son made it for the county fair and won a first place ribbon for it. helena
Here's the recipe for the Hershey's cake: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/hersheys--perfectly-chocolate-chocolate-cake/Detail.aspx. If you go to the reviews, one of the first ones talks about replacing the boiling water with coffee. I'm definitely going to be trying this next time.
