I like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Polder-898-90-Clock-Timer-Stopwatch/dp/B00004S4U7/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1269653920&sr=8-9

I can stick it on the fridge or wear it around my neck. It can count up or count down and the beep is loud enough to hear if I have to leave the room.

Good luck!

Around your neck sounds different. :)

Happy timer shopping!

Since you don't say what kind of timer ... or what you wanted to use it for ... I am not sure this will help ... but here is what I have considered getting for my son :

http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Resources-LER6900-Time-Tracker/dp/B0007DHU0S/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1269654077&sr=8-5

Looks pretty neat, just not sure its worth the $$ to me .. if ya kwim?

I'm planning on getting DD a watch/timer, the sports type. She can wear it around her neck, I can set an alarm on it to remind her when to come inside when she's playing up the street...and ideally it could also do a countdown so she'll stop asking things like, "how many hours until my swimming lesson?" every ten minutes for 9 or 10 hours. Finally, she likes doing timed lessons and I can often get more work out of her in certain subjects that way.

Do you plan to use it a lot? Is your computer on during school time? I have my laptop on all the time so instead of buying a timer, I simply use a free online one. It works perfect for math speed drills or letting us know when our time is up in different subjects. This is the one I use. I like that I can use it to count up as well as down. Just thought I'd throw it out there as something to use until you find one you really love. :)

HTH,

Yeah, it looks neat, but awfully pricey!
