Ellyndria
DS is needing to blow his nose every couple of minutes and it's all red. I'm thinking that he can't really do tae kwon do today if he's needing to wipe his nose so often. But then I wonder if I'm worrying too much. However, I also don't want to spread germs. Yesterday we went to the library, and DS walked by this kid who started hacking just as he walked by and continued to hack for a while. Great. Now the runny nose. Of course I'm also feeling guilty because today is his last chance for TKD this week and he's only gone once so far this week, and he's supposed to go twice. Then last week was a testing week so there were no classes, and he didn't test so he didn't go last week either... then the week before that he also only went once because I chose not to go because of the freezing rain and snow that was happening. Jean in Newcastle
Sure, we stay home for a runny nose - esp. if you are needing to blow it often. The only times we do go out is at the tail end of a cold when the Dr. says it isn't contagious anymore.
MariannNOVA
Yes we do......we stay home from handbells, choir, basketball practice, and basketball games, and other stuff. If he's fighting something, then you don't want to expose him to anything else -- so trust your instincts. :) Hope he feels better! :)
Ellyndria
Thanks. I think I just wanted permission to stay home and not feel guilty about it.
MariannNOVA
Thanks. I think I just wanted permission to stay home and not feel guilty about it. Do not feel guilty! ;) Be kind to that little nose!
tricia
I usually do. But especially so when I am hoping to use it as an excuse to get out of something.:auto:
Harriet Vane
I always stay home for bodily fluids. A bit of a sniffle doesn't usually slow us down, but a runny nose definitely will. As I see it, that runny nose is a major, major contagion issue, especially for something like martial arts (lots of physical contact). Stay home. Mrs Mungo
My youngest has a lung disorder. Thank you to those who keep your kids home when they are sick. Your child's little cold is another child's reason for hospitalization.
MariannNOVA
we've decided to stay home b/c it is very, very cold and very, very windy. And, yes, I am ITA with Mrs. Mungo.....one child's sniffles can be the catalyst for something much more serious in another.....I am determined to keep ds9 off his inhaler and I do need all the help I can get. Thanks :) for bringing this up.:001_smile:
AuntieM
You just never know... could be something innocuous, but it could be the beginning of a really nasty bug attack. It's just not cool to share, as strider put it, bodily fluids. Enjoy your time at home. There's ALWAYS another day at the dojo....
happyWImom
Yes, we do. I wish other people did. It seems like so many people have the "Oh, it's only a cold" attitude. But, it makes my dc miserable, and can turn into other things. Stay home-don't feel guilty!
scrapbookbuzz
Stay home when any of you are coughing, sneezing, sniffling repeatedly. My son came down with the sniffles yesterday so I'm going to keep him home from the zoo field trip tomorrow. Disappointing? Yes. End of the world? No. PLUS, as many have stated, they don't want us to share and I'd rather other people didn't share, as well!
Parrothead
I'll keep mine home. I get so frustrated when we go somewhere and I see a little one with gross running down his face knowing he has touched the gross and then something I need to touch. MeaganS
I've stayed home from church with my daughter before when she had a runny nose. That was during the big swine flu thing and our church specifically asked us not to bring them if they were sick at all. If you think another mom would be concerned, I'd just stay home. jenL
We stayed home from a Parent's Night Out babysitting opportunity at our church tonight because my boys are stuffy and one started with a runny nose. I'm sad Dh and I lost some date night time together, but I don't want others to get sick because of my boys. So, I think it's great that you stayed home! Germs are not for sharing! :D
