DS and I both thought the images they used to help remember the facts were neither intuitive nor memorable, and he figured he could make up better ones on his own (which he did). Jenn in Mo Posted January 20, 2010 Share Posted January 20, 2010 I thought it was great. My boys had semi-memorized their times tables but took far too long for my comfort level. When we started the program, they had to re-learn their times tables from the ground up. And it took all of two weeks. After the two weeks, they no longer needed to see any pictures or triggers. My DS memorized quickly so it wouldn't have been worth it but my DD just could not remember them and TT was the only thing that worked and stuck. She had them down in about a week. Love it. We use Saxon, so I introduce the stories when the book introduces those facts. My boys both memorized 7x8=56 immediately because of the picture. I'll give it a shot later but I don't think that my daughter needs the little memory tricks to remember her facts. Totally glad that I didn't pay $30 for it. Not so pleased that I paid $20 for it. Then I used it for two weeks with my son. He mastered the facts and now it sits on the shelf again waiting for my younger son. I love this product. 2cents Posted January 20, 2010 Share Posted January 20, 2010 We used Times Tables the Fun Way which I think is similar only more colorful and offers a computer game too. They're both the same technique. My girls learned and retained their tables in a flash with this method. I loaned it to a friend who's daughter struggled in math and she was sailing along in no time. Love it. :iagree: Oldest dd didn't need the help - she did great with flashcards. Younger dd struggled with facts, but for whatever reason had no trouble instantly recalling the "story". I never understood it myself - I learned them with her, and had to stop to remember the story each time - with her it was instant recall. Some people are wired differently! Most of the time she know them off the top of her head but if she ever get stuck or forgets she resorts to Time Tales to get her though.
