  1. Hi Everyone, I have been a lazy bum and my longest run since the half marathon on 11/19/12 is 6.5 miles...will be away visiting family the next few days-Next week it's back to business. Alenee- great job-so glad you are running again! It's nice to see so many new names on here:)!!
  2. Hmm so at what grade does the switch take place? My dd is in 7th now and I was assuming we'd keep plugging along...I'm bummed this may not be an option:(
  3. Thanks for your input...I did not realize that the higher level CLE was actually Alpha Omega materials...that explains why they sell the AO teacher's guide with their lightunits...that totally confused me! I'm bummed though b/c I really like CLE and had hoped that it would continue as we love it into the high school years for my youngest 4... If you had a child who has done CLE math for years, what did they think when they transitioned to the AO materials? I see that it is still in lightunit format...
  4. Has anyone made this switch? I chose to have my sophomore complete TT Algebra 1 and 2 consecutively instead of the traditional Alg 1,Geometry, Alg 2 sequence.I'm not crazy about TT and LOVE CLE(Christian Light Education) for my 4 youngest but they have been doing it from grade school...it this a feasible switch in high school?? Any advice welcome:) On the web site', I do not see an option for placement tests for the upper grades... Thanks!
  5. Yeah, Alenee!! you can do it! keep us posted...You know I am a HUGE believer in Galloway's method for training without injury...you might want to consider using the timer and training that way...or do you already do that? My brain is foggy!!
  6. Thanks for all who posted...it's good to know we're all still plodding along... Kudos to you 25 miles a week gals--Wow! That's alot of miles!! Alenee: sorry to hear about your health issues, but glad you are figuring it out and planning to get back out there:) OC Mom...I hear you about the time commitment and cutting back...I don't think you will ever regret spending time with your family...I'm sure you'll figure out a plan that works...it feels like I'm constantly adjusting the schedule but it's okay as this season with kids home is flying by and I don't want to miss out!! LG Gone Wild...Nono hasn't been on the board for a long while...I've been wondering about her too and miss all of her running advice! Hope the subforums are up and running soon! kathi
  7. 425lisamarie, Too funny...I too run b/c it helps me to maintain my weight...and I agree-running doesn't take as long as going to the gym...and it's free!
  8. Anyone still out there? I miss our old board :( Would love to catch up and hear how everyone is doing...since I don't know when the subgroups will be up and running, I figured I'd start a thread. I did run the Philly HM on November 18th...finished 9 minutes faster than last year and this was with planned walk breaks/Galloway method. Guess it really does work:) have only been out on a few short runs since the race due to the wedding of my running buddy's daughter yesterday...but now that the wedding is over, we will resume our weekly long runs,if the weather cooperates :) Hope you all are well...
  9. I have been a member of the welltrained runners but can not access? Any suggestions? Thanks!

  13. We're in NJ too and this has been so hard to shake...I have a 12 yo daughter, I have 15 and 17 yo sons and can not imagine young men that age doing such a thing...My heart is so hurting for 2 families destroyed by this:(!!! Praying for God to hold these families up in the midst of this horrible tragedy.
  14. We are currently reading through Proverbs with my 4 youngest (12,11,10,9) I have used Wisdom with the Millers and Hidden Treasures...would love something that takes nuggets out chapter by chapter...any thoughts?? Thanks!
  15. After 16 weeks of weekly therapy and homework my once reluctant reader is now enjoying books! She was very resistant to all reading activities and now that her eye convergence and teaming issues have been dealt with it has made a huge difference. So if your kiddos complain of headaches, teary eyes, saying the words move on the page, difficulty comprehending, you may want to consider an evaluation with an eye doctor who specializes in vision therapy. I did have her evaluated by a traditional pediatric ophthalmologist and she had no significant findings...I followed up with our current doctor who found major issues. Just an FYI: Many traditional eye doctors are not supportive of vision therapy due to infringement issues Anyhow, just wanted to share since a similar email is the reason I pursued VT for my reluctant reader. :001_smile:
  16. We have and twice we received letters from foreign countries...it was a great experience for us;)
  17. So sorry to hear about your MIL but what a beautiful tribute you wrote about her...what a gift she has given to your family and what a comfort to know you will one day be together again.:grouphug:
  18. Wow! I am anxious to speak with the office tomorrow to get the details filled in...thanks so much for all of your info...you may be hearing more from me in the days ahead:tongue_smilie:!!
  19. Thanks again...our ds is 10...I'll be interested to hear from the doctor tomorrow...I do so appreciate all of this info:)
  20. Thanks so much for your response! Have you seen a big change since he began the shots? Do you give him the injections? How long do you expect the shots to last? I will be speaking with the office tomorrow to get more details...poor guy fainted after the bloodwork so I know this will be a major stretch for all! Appreciate any other info you can give:) Thanks!!
  21. Our pediatric endocrinologist is recommending this test for our son...anyone done this? What can I expect? I looked it up and see it is an IV/blood draw given over the course of a few hours. The blood test was traumatic enough:001_huh: for our little man...hoping to hear some positive, "it was a breeze" stories but would like to hear the others too so we can make an informed decision. Thanks!
