HollyBee
This probably sounds like a dumb question, but how do you hang (laminated) wall maps? I've tried in the past to just use thumbtacks, but eventually (less than a year) the corners got ripped out and the maps fell. I now have new maps, and I'd like to avoid that happening again. I'm wondering if I should try to get poster frames for them, but I hate to spend the money right now (though if that's the best option, I would do it). Any suggestions? :bigear: Thanks! MarthaT
3m makes a nice product that doesnt damage the wall that I've used. I can't think of the name, but they are little strips of adhesive
BettyL
:iagree: We use the 3M product too. I have hung my large US and World laminated maps with them and it works great!
HollyBee
Are these the wall-mounting tabs?
Carol in Cal.
We take the maps to a stationary store and have them mounted on foam core. That is just right--stiff enough to stand them up, but still very lightweight. DD has a low bookshelf in her HS room, and we lean the maps against the wall from that bookshelf. We have two. One is the US and the other is the world. Whichever one we are not currently using is stored behind the bookshelf.
KathyBC
Same problem. One year I screwed cup hooks in the wall and attached fold back clips to the maps, sliding them over the cup hooks when we wanted the map up. Still not ideal but it worked for that year. dirty ethel rackham
3M Command strips. If you remove them correctly (not just ripping off the wall, but pulling the tab) it leaves no mark on the walls, nor on the paper. We've used them for years to hang posters, maps, timelines, etc.

Unicorn.
We use Velcro too!
sagira
We use thumb tacks. We don't really care if it has holes. If we had concrete walls, like in my parents' home, I would have used strong tape.
Satori
I've used Velcro and love it. We have two rooms for our maps and we can also take them down and put on a table. But also loving the 3M Command strips idea, must pick some up this week... :)
LibraryLover
I almost spent $60 on a huge bulletin board yesterday for a heavy laminted world map poster. We had it up with duck/duct tape and it kept falling down and driving us crazy! Thank you! Off to ACMoore!
LND1218
Hot glue works really well and don't leave marks on the wall.
Tess in the Burbs
I staple my maps/posters to the walls. they make sure small holes so even if I rearrange you can't see the holes when looking at the wall. When we ever paint the holes will fill in just nicely without extra work. I only had one map rip out when a kid put their feet up on the wall and rip it down. Hasn't happened since! and with stapling you don't have the tacks sticking out...kids can't pull them out. :D
kckamy
I asked this question awhile back so your not the only one! http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119326 I ended up going with the grommets. Kinkos only charged $1 each. I also purchased some StikkiClips at Office Max to hang some other items in the school room ($3.99 for 20).
