Book A Week in 2009 * Week 21 Book 22 *

Recommended Posts

Thursday marks the beginning of book week 21

We are on Week 21 of our quest to read 52 books in 52 weeks. It is time to start book # 22. (If you haven't already.) :)

To recap the rules:

  1. Read an average of a book a week - 52 books in 52 weeks
  2. Re-reading a book counts--as long as you first read it before 2009
  3. School related books don't count (unless you want them to.

You may post your reviews, thoughts, reactions to the books you've read here or on the 52 Books in 52 Weeks Blog.

*******************************************

We are heading into the summer and things are slowing down. But there is nothing like a good book to carry you through the day. I'm currently reading "The Link" by B.Sandy. An interesting book my father purchased for me when he stumbled across the author doing a book signing at Las Vegas airport Borders.

Also, do you guys have any recommendations for book sites, blogs, bookish people or companies you would like to see highlighted on the 52 books blog? Every Thursday I highlight a few sites and if there is anything you'd like to see on the blog let me know.

What are you all reading this week?

We've been watching David Starkey's Monarchy series, but the library only has the first two seasons. So I found the book and have picked up where the dvds left off. England has just been invaded by William of Orange. Very exciting stuff.

I just finished Michael Pollan's In Defense of Food. I think I might want to buy that one.

Not yet sure what I am in the mood for this week--off to browse my shelves. Everything I have read thus far has been off my own shelves of "I want to read this someday" collection of used and gift books. I have been very restrained and have brought home very few new finds these past months as I am really enjoying whittling down and weeding out those I already own in to keepers and not. It has been amusing to have my husband urging me to visit bookstores and browse and buy something new instead of urging me to try and whittle down my enormous piles of must own. I think he is made nervous by my uncharacteristic self-control:lol:

He needn't worry as I am positive it is only temporary and will go the way of all "diets" and end in wild rebound the other way any day now.

Happy Reading to all!

I cannot possibly remember everything from the first week on but in the last three weeks I read:

"On every Side" by K. Kingsbury

"Homestead" by Rossi

"Breach of Promise" by Perry - working on this one now.

They were/are all very good.
