  1. Renee, I don't think there is a person on these boards who cannot empathize with you. Do what you can realistically to clean and organize your home before the party but I urge you to then let that all go (I know that is easier said than done) and focus on what you can do to make it a great day for your son. First, remember this is about celebrating the gift of him and rejoice in the fact that he obviously is proud and comfortable in the home you made because he wants to share it with his friends. Also concentrate on making your guests comfortable due to your attitude of welcome and humility and joy that they could come and help you celebrate your son. We have all been in fancy homes and "homey" homes and if you really consider where you felt the most comfortable it is in the home of those who were glad you were there just for your company and not for what they could show off to you. Whatever will go wrong (and I am praying nothing will) will just happen and all the worry in the world before hand will not change it. Celebrate your son and let the rest not touch you deeply and people will go away with the memory of the love and pride you have for your family and not for the condition of your home. Hope that helps and know I was preaching to myself and letting you listen in.:grouphug:
  2. 17th and last! Mixed emotions and can't even finish this cause the tears are coming just thinking about it.
  3. He makes me breakfast each morning if I am awake before he leaves otherwise he leaves me sleep on in peace.(I am not a morning person) He makes the bed each morning before he leaves unless I am still in it. ( I am not a happy morning person.) Since the dishes are usually not done each day when he gets home from work he just plunges right in to help with dinner and then does the kitchen clean up without a criticism. On those days I never manage dinner he offers to pick up something on his way home. He heads off to work each day so I can stay home and homeschool and he likes it that way. I could gush on and I am sorry ladies but I somehow got the best man!

  5. Not yet sure what I am in the mood for this week--off to browse my shelves. Everything I have read thus far has been off my own shelves of "I want to read this someday" collection of used and gift books. I have been very restrained and have brought home very few new finds these past months as I am really enjoying whittling down and weeding out those I already own in to keepers and not. It has been amusing to have my husband urging me to visit bookstores and browse and buy something new instead of urging me to try and whittle down my enormous piles of must own. I think he is made nervous by my uncharacteristic self-control:lol: He needn't worry as I am positive it is only temporary and will go the way of all "diets" and end in wild rebound the other way any day now. Happy Reading to all! 14. ...I struggled to get up with him every morning and make his breakfast and pack him a lunch, but as I am not a morning person (read grumpy) after a year or so he gently suggested it would be better for us both if I slept in and he kissed me goodbye when he left. Now 25 years later I am up with him most mornings cause I'm not sleeping well with peri-meno but he makes us both breakfast and packs his own lunch and gives me space while I struggle to meet the day. OTOH we have always gone to bed together unless one of us is sick and we both like it that-a-way.
