  1. I'm going to say the same as some of the others...NO cheap toilet paper. We call that stuff "John Wayne" toilet paper. You know, "it's rough, it's tough, & it don't take no cr&p off nobody."
  2. I do mine in December, even though I vow every year that I'm going to do a little all along.:001_huh::tongue_smilie:
  3. :lurk5: I'd love to hear more on this subject, too.
  4. Thanks to all who replied. I think we're going to go with Prima Latina.:)
  5. I would definitely bring my kids inside. I sure hope they catch this guy really soon.
  6. I vote for lime green.:D BTW, green is my favorite color, so I'm a little biased.
  7. What program would you recommend for a 4th grader? Also, keep in mind that the teacher (me) has NO experience with Latin whatsoever.:001_huh: Thanks!
  8. I try to purchase all that I can used. I've been fortunate enough to get most of what I need that way.
  9. Only my dh grills. I "don't know how to do it." And I plan to keep it that way.:tongue_smilie:
  10. :iagree: Oh, I feel your pain! I had the same reaction. Such a depressing end, but such a great book. I highly recommend it.
  11. I was thinking a yard sale, also. Selling your used curriculum is also another good suggestion.
  12. Thank you all so much! You have been very helpful. I appreciate all of the responses.:001_smile:
  13. :iagree: Also the following: 1984 To Kill a Mockingbird Where the Red Fern Grows Homeschooling with a Meek & Quiet Spirit The Outsiders The Cross and the Switchblade
  14. How do you do it? Do you simply take their recommendations for each grade & purchase the suggested items? How do you keep up with all of the notebooking? Do you follow it exactly or do you tweak it? Do you teach Latin? If so, what do you use & for what ages? How do you schedule your year? How much planning is involved? I'm rereading TWTM & it's got me intrigued again. :001_smile: It was the first homeschooling book I read when I started 3 years ago. I planned to follow it & did for the first year, but then I moved on to something different. I'm just trying to get an idea of how to follow it long-term. BTW, I have a rising 2nd & 4th grader. I've been teaching them together in all subjects except for math and language arts. Can I still do that if I follow TWTM, or would I have to separate them? Is it possible to put them on the same level & maybe just add some things in for my older child? Thanks in advance!
  15. I do strength training (using 5 lb. weights) for 20 min. 4 times a week. I do this in combination with cardio. HTH!
  16. :lol:You sound like my ds17. He can't stand the Jonas Brothers, either. But now I have to confess this: my youngest dc LOVE the Jonas Brothers & we're taking them to a Jonas Brothers concert in August.:tongue_smilie:
  17. 1. I ate the Pop Tarts that I told my dc were for breakfast, so no they couldn't have them as a snack--and having the Pop Tarts for my snack is exactly what I did when dc weren't looking. 2. I ate some raw chocolate chip cookie dough. Don't worry, it's homemade! 3. I purposely ignored a phone call from someone that I find annoying.
  18. Here are a few sites that might be helpful: http://home.att.net/~bandcparker/reading.html http://www.redshift.com/~bonajo/history.htm http://www.abookintime.com/
  19.:lol: What bugs me most is unsolicited advice, particularly if it comes from my MIL.:glare:
  20. I let my ds16--well, 17 tomorrow--listen to heavy metal, screamo Christian music, although seeing it typed out like that makes it seem like an oxymoron!:001_huh::tongue_smilie: I do read all of the lyrics, so I'm aware of exactly what is being spoken about in these songs. While I'd prefer that he listen to Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, or Steven Curtis Chapman, it's just not his style. Also, he doesn't seem negatively affected by the music he listens to. If I began to notice that happening, then I'd have a different opinion. If it's truly Christian, then I don't have a problem with it, no matter how loud it is. I also should add that my ds plays electric guitar for our praise team at church. On those days, he does play the likes of Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Steven Curtis Chapman, and beautiful old hymns like Amazing Grace & Are You Washed in the Blood.:D
