  1. It's 67 degrees and my house smells like apple cider. That makes me berry excited. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  2. I say go ahead and break. She sounds like she understands the value of hard work and is already very accelerated. It may be time to learn the benefits of rest and how to avoid burnout. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  3. I always thought that answering in a complete sentence felt very artificial. If someone asks me a question, I just tell them the answer. If I'm answering a written question, then the necessary information is already written. However, it makes sense to do it if I'm writing the answer to an oral question. In that case, a complete sentence is the only way it would make sense when you go back to read it. Maybe she just doesn't understand the benefit of the practice. I would try having her write her answers in a composition book so she can see that it has to make sense standing on its own, without the question. Of course, the chocolate chips thing sounds more fun. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  4. I woke up. I think that's enough for today. Is it the weekend yet? Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  5. I hurt myself dancing with the boys. So now I'm sitting on the couch with my feet up watching them dance with the dogs. They're good dogs. They put up with a lot. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  6. Like steel-toed ballet flats? Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  7. When I was getting dressed this morning, I put on 2 different boots to see which looked better with my outfit. Then the boys asked me for something, so I helped them. Then I threw in a load of laundry, picked up some trash, and made the bed. It's 45 minutes later and I just realized I'm still wearing unmatched shoes. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  8. Good morning. I stayed up until midnight last night. Now I'm sleepy. And I have a headache and a cough. I hope it's just allergies and not sickness. I plan to school year round, and take breaks as needed. But one of the main reasons I decided to homeschool this boy is so he could work at his own pace. So far this year, we are right on track with science, art, and our other 'extra' subjects. I've scrapped our math plan and moved him into MEP 1 because he's mathy and MUS was boring him to tears. And in reading, we're still on lesson 2. His language delay means we need to go slow and review often. So some stuff will get finished, and some stuff may carry over into next year. I am also an uber-planner, but I'm forcing myself to be flexible for him. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  9. That's exactly what we were doing. I would call out words and they would try to shoot the correct flash card. It was fun. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  10. I just got super frustrated with my toddler because he couldn't find his cup. I kept telling him to look for it, that I would not give him another cup, he needs to find it.... Apparently I had picked it up and put it in the sink at some point. Now I feel horrible. But he accepted my apology. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  11. I keep my paper planner open on the table at all times. Once every couple of months I try to set up an electronic system, but I forget to enter stuff. It's too many steps so I'll do it later and then forget. Or I set too many reminders and then my brain decides to ignore all of them. My paper planner is far from perfect, but it plus a couple alarms seems to be the best combo for now. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  12. I need to make more coffee. Because Monday. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  13. I'm letting the boys shoot their words with Nerf guns while I make holiday plans on Pinterest. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  14. It's not really scheduled like most of her stuff is. Just a list of ideas to go with each book, copywork and some notebooking pages. Ideas include things like: comparing different versions of a story, learning to say Merry Christmas in different languages, learning about the arctic circle, arctic animals, the northern lights, etc. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  15. I have conquered Mount Washmore! I am mighty and one day they will erect a statue in my honor. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk ETA: I feel like we should write this on our timeline. "Nov. 6, 2016: A day that will live-in infamy as the day Mom had all of our laundry done."
  16. But then it wouldn't be extra. It would just be normal to be all well-rested and capable. That's not special. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  17. The most frustrating thing is that I am trying. Really. Hard. And everything is still chaos because I just can't get it together. I bought Smart but Scattered on my Kindle last night. I want to thank everyone again for their responses and the OP for bringing it up in the first place. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  18. We got the Jan Brett study for this year too. And we plan to start BYL 1 next fall for 1St. I'm glad to hear it's working for you! I'm looking forward to getting started. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  19. So last night we had an awards dinner for the end of basketball season. We usually take our allergy meds with dinner and I completely spaced on it since we were out. A storm blew in and now both the boys are coughing uncontrollably. At least this proves that the meds work. Good morning. I must attend to my coffee needs. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  20. This is exactly me. And, until I read this thread, it never even occurred to me that everyone's brains didn't function this way. I thought that everyone just dealt with it much better because I suck at life. (No need to worry about depression here. I'm smart, I'm funny, and I'm fully awesome. But I also stink at everyday tasks. Mostly at being consistent with everyday tasks.)I got great grades in school, but had difficulty turning things in or remembering about assignments. My high school calculus teacher used to hate me. I had the highest test scores in school, and I just barely passed because I didn't do the homework. Like Ever. Now I'm actually kind of excited about the fact that maybe there is a reason (besides me just not being good for anything) and maybe I can do something about it. 21. I love to play with my kids' Magna tiles. I think they are awesome and I am way above the manufacturer recommended age. We have the knock off brands, and my nephew has the real deal. My 2yr old actually prefers the Walmart brand. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  22. I just throw Weapon X's clothes into a basket and he takes it from there. Mal is still to short to even reach all of his drawers (he's very small for his age), but he will throw everything in the bottom drawer if I asked him to. I have to put away DH's laundry. Otherwise he just throws it into a pile next to the bed and I want to shank him with an ice pick. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  23. I thought I was being productive by doing laundry and dishes. I'm such a slacker compared to y'all. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  24. I washed all the laundry. It was like 8 loads. I still have to put most of it away. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  25. I talk about this a lot with my boys. They do chores to earn money to buy their things. We still buy them other things too, but it helps them to realize that things don't just appear. It takes hard work and commitment to save enough to buy that Lego set or whatever. Twice a year, we also choose some things to donate to charity. Each of them chooses a few toys and we put together a food basket to take. We talk about how we are lucky to be able to afford these things, and how it's nice to share our good fortune with others. TBH, for a long time it didn't seem like any of it was sinking in. But last week, DS5 finally saved up enough for a toy he's been wanting. When we got home he told me, "Mom, I'm grateful for these toys and to be able to share them with you and Daddy and brother." That felt like a huge win. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
