I love your heart! I think that the natural progression as they get older is more independent work but that doesn't mean that you could not read independent readings aloud and together. You could also read their science aloud and together. I don't think that as they get older there is as much interactive material but you sound like a woman who can take what she has and tweak it to her hearts intent. LuvnMySvn I love these books. I sobbed like crazy reading the last part of The Last Battle. Everyone cried when Repicheep came out of the Garden and then the reunion with all the characters...sniff sniff. :iagree:sniff,sniff.

It's hard to pick a favorite, I get really emotional with the Last Battle and love A Horse and His Boy. The one I feel a bit more drag in is The Silver Chair but I love,love,love Puddleglum.

My DD is writing a book for her senior english credit and it is a long one. She should have been editing it by now but is still writing. It is hard to rush her because it is her book out of her amazing imagination but....we need to wrap it up. I am just hoping she finishes by her graduation day.

Why couldn't College Algebra be the fourth? Is College Algebra the same as Statistics?

We were told not to count Consumer Math as a math credit. My DD took Algebra 1 in 8th grade and then like you said took Alg.2 and Geometry. For her 3rd year we have chosen to take College Algebra. If you chose to do that you could just follow it up the next year with Trig. instead of taking Pre calculus which is College Algebra and Trig combined, just a thought. My DD has never been friends with math. She tests well but it is always like sludging through mud in her daily work. I really like the suggestion of taking Algebra 1 again to help cement concepts but if he already gets it all he'll probably really not like repeating it if he's like my DD, although she doesn't really enjoy any of it.

I'm going to agree with continuing to use FLL and WWE. Being an excellent reader does not mute out the need for a strong understanding of grammar concepts,parts of speech,and dictation along with learning how to write well composed thoughts and ideas. You will probably move through them quickly but it will be worth it. Have you looked into Institute for Excellence in Writing at all? That would seem like a good next step and would add some new and more challenging concepts after WWE, in my opinion. Enjoy keeping up with your dc,it sounds like fun! :001_smile:

We love First Language Lessons here. We have used levels 1,2,and 3. It is an oral program, more so in level 1 with great poems to memorize, fun chants to learn, narrations and a lot of verbal repitition of the parts of speech and grammar rules. It then moves into managable dictation and diagramming sentence along with all of the above. I have used it with my fidgety son and my artistic daughter and they both love it. There is a lot available, this is what worked well for us. :001_smile:

I thought of another one,this just happened to us at the dentist's office but has happened many more times than that. When going out in public with the kids during school hours we will get asked "Oh, are you out of school today?" Another one, as I am sitting here, my oldest is correcting my writing as I am writing. I can definitely relate to the "blank stare when asked what grade they are in" my oldest always did this mainly because we weren't sure if we would skip a grade her whole homeschool life until 9th grade. One of my favorite home school stories was when my son was learning multiplication and his younger sister thought it was so cool and such a big deal she ran to tell my oldest about it. Through the closed bathroom door she yelled "He is learning multiple creations." Cracked us up. Another time my son was counting to 10 on his fingers and he had skipped a finger so he got to the last finger and was only on nine. His shocked facial expression declared his concern over his missing finger and he immediately began a recount greatly relieved they were all present and accounted for.

Reading - Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading Very user friendly with short,fun,engaging lessons Spelling - Spelling by Sound and Structure 2 I am using this a second time and seeing the same success.I would say its greatest perk is that it is very user friendly English/language arts - First Language Lessons We love this program and I love that I can reuse it with all of my children. We have used levels 1-3 and are getting ready to begin 4. Math - Math-U-See This has been a very good fit for my children and it is so easy to allow them to move at their own pace.

My daughter had a similar experience with Owl at Home by Arnold Lobel. Of course Amelia Bedelia is a favorite. She just read it the other day. It is so fun to see them enjoy a book that much.

It's 10-11 for my dh. He likes to get to work early or it could have been 9-10. My husband would be working these hours whether I stayed home or not. I'm just glad he likes his job and I look forward to seeing him in the evening although they are always too short.

If you are ready to take the plunge I would get TWSS and SWI-A. They are well worth it and although you could use the SWI-A with out TWSS I think that TWSS has very valuable information that helps you understand the whole of what your child is learning and the resale value once you are done with them is good. I really think it's worth it.

I am learning along with my kids and we are using Prima Latina. They do enjoy it when they catch me mispronounce a word. It is working out just fine for us but I think it depends on the program you are using.

We purchased Transcript Pro by Inge Canon for generating our transcript. It helped me keep things organized and offered different presentations. For us some of our courses went from one year into the next and we were able to show it in that way instead of "fudging" and showing all work in one year. It looked very professional and I felt good about handing it in. I would say for me it was a good purchase.

We have home schooled since kindergarten and have been acepted at the university we had chosen to apply to. Three years ago I started looking at their home schooled students admissions page to see what they were expecting,so that would be my recommendation. Go to the college's admissions pages and they will have at least the academic expectations. My daughter did not have a lot of extra curricular activities,most were serving at church, I was worried that it would not be enough for them but it was. That would be something else to look at, what they expect for extra curricular. No big shocks here yet although I won't completely relax until she is there in the fall.

Make the letters that you want to work on out of playdough that the two of you have made together. Put glitter and her favorite color in it and then form letters out of it and teach her the sounds and have her form the letters,then you can make more than one letter and teach her blends. You could also do the same with peanut butter playdough and then eat or cookie dough and then bake them make their sounds and eat them.Another method used is tracing the letters in sand,salt,or even sugar. You can buy colored sand and save it in a shallow container.You trace the letter first and then have her trace it and make the sound.This can be used with blends and words also.
