  1. I have found taking L-Lysine daily (1000 mg) helps me keep them away. When I forget and life gets stressful, forget it. I feel for you. They are very painful. The only thing that gives me relief is 1500 mgs of L-Lysine daily (higher dosage as you are trying to end a breakout) and keeping it lubricated. Once it drys, it cracks and ouch! Hoping yours is gone soon.
  2. I am sooo with you. We practice the 3 Rs around here (reduce, reuse, recycle) and when I do have grocery/plastic bags they are use to dispose of the little trash I don't compost or recycle. I wish the gvt. would stop attacking the low-hanging fruit and deal with the beafier problems. I get that plastic is a big problem but come on...
  3. Well I can understand how your feathers would be ruffled. :glare: Any time someone offers to teach you their way of doing things (unsolicited) it kind of feels like they are saying your way is inferior. I think, though, that these people may be victims of their own youth and enthusiasm for the 'religion' of coupons. I have saved a lot of money in the past using coupons and chasing sales. It is a chunk of time. I only have one child so I can squeeze it in. When I was working 14 - 16 hour days (8 hours at the office, 1 hour commute, then home for a late night deployment that lasted for hours) it was difficult to do anything. This might approach the challenge of mothering/home schooling multiple littles including an infant. Anyway...regarding savings. My store doubles coupons. When they triple I'm ecstatic but that's rare any more. Coupons have been getting skimpier (less savings, less coupons for items we buy) and we don't eat as many convenience, processed foods any more. The greener, more veggie you are the harder it will be to justify even opening the coupon circular. I still coupon and I still save but for me it's the thrill of the game; a trait inherited from my Mom. Trying to get x product for as low as I can. I do not drive to multiple stores to seek out bargains. I only peruse circulars for stores that I will be passing in my weekly loop anyway as to waste gas to save money defies reason. I used to do Black Friday sales too. I stopped. Either they were out of the items or I came home with a bunch of 'free after rebate' stuff that just became clutter. In your shoes there is no way I'd be doing coupons as ANY time drag, no matter how small, would be significant. My DH would be lucky if I got it together enough to go to the store and buy ANY food! Honestly I'm shocked someone would seek to convert someone with an infant but I think it really was meant well; they just weren't thinking.
  4. :grouphug: So sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
  5. $350 - $450 for our family of 3 and 3 kitties. That includes everything - food and household supplies. A year ago it was more like $250 - $350. We eat more organic and food prices have increased while coupons have gotten skimpier or non-existant for the products we purchase. Holiday months tend to be more as we host get togethers. We buy on sale and hoard. Thank goodness for lots of closet/pantry space! :D
  6. The Harry Potter series. The reader was excellent at engaging the listener and the accents (esp. Hagrid's) were excellent.
  7. I'd say it depends on what type of job you are looking for. My suggestions: Local newspapers careerbuilder.com hotjobs.com monster.com theladders.com career networking sites such as spokes or linkedin friends yellow pages or other references (sending resumes out cold to businesses in your area in the field you wish to work) If it is retail job, asking the manager or customer service desk if they are hiring (make sure you're dressed to make a favorable impression and prepared for an on-the-spot interview just in case) Good luck!
  8. I vote for white. Another thing to consider is that if you go with white you'll find that you have more lower-priced options. When we redid our bathroom we opted for a white glacier bay sink (Glacier bay only comes in white). It looked exactly like the Kohler sink but was 1/4 the price. In our upstairs bathroom I had a time trying to find an almond/bone sink bowl for our vanity. I ended up getting a Corian counter and Corian bowl. Love it but it was pricey. Have fun remodeling!
  9. For those of you wondering.... I saw kitty today. He's looking so much better. He ate on his own today - no tube or force feeding. He has a way to go before he is completely healed but he's doing remarkably well. The vet expects to release him on Friday but we're taking a wait-and-see approach. Poor little guy is guestimated to be about 5 months old. Hopefully his youth will only help him in his recovery. Just thought I'd let everyone know.
  10. Disney World. Our first trip as a family was to take our minds off a sad family event. Frankly I needed to escape. Since then we've returned every year; we enjoy it that much. After the third year we bought into DVC. There is something for everyone, it's sooo kid friendly and we all have such a great time. Next January will be our 7th annual family trip and we're taking my parents as they'll be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary (and prefered going to WDW than a party). Love all our family vacations but Disney never disappoints.
  11. :grouphug: So sorry. Miscarriage is really tough. I think it's natural to want to definitively want to know 'why'. I can relate to your anger and sadness. I'm still angry/sad about my two and that was a long time ago. Do what you feel best regarding the hospital. At the very least they are behaving very callously. Allow yourself the time and space to grieve.
  12. I sold my Pump in Style on Craigslist. It was in excellent condition but 10 years old. It sold for 60% - 70% of original purchase price.
  13. It's a possibility and we had thought about it but it's an outside chance as we have three indoor-only cats already (that some times get along, some times not). He'd have to be tested to insure he has no infectious diseases that would infect our furr children. More likely is that he will be returned to his turf. We found that he's been hanging out with a neighbor, Laura, and her cats for a month or so now. He's not 'hers' but he gets along with her cats and obviously considers that his territory. I just hope the bugger has learned to stay the hey away from the road!! It's all very sketchy now as he has to recover at the vet's but it seems, when recovered, Laura will take him to join her outdoor/barn clan.
  14. I was able to put through my order last night and rec'd my shipping confirmation today. ITEMS SHIPPED ItemQtyEachTotal01724 Omaha Steaks Burgers 8/5 Oz1$12.99 $12.99 08658 Omaha Steaks Burgers 12/41$.00 $.00 09830 Rewards Gift Card1$25.00-$25.00- worked for me....
  15. Vet just called. Kitty has some skull fractures and a broken jaw and is NOT neutered. Vet believes that he is feral as he has not been a very nice patient (boggles my mind, I don't think I'd be peachy with a broken jaw and skull fractures either). I needed another bill like a hole in the head but with the option being: 1) put kitty that vet believes could fully recover down 2) take financial responsibility for his injuries and 10 day recovery and try to find him a safe place to live well we chose 2. Such suckers we are.
  16. That gives me hope. I really want this guy to pull through. No luck finding the owners. We did find someone who knows the cat, says he's been hanging around outside with her cats off and on for a month or so but no idea who he belongs to. He's been neutered so he's definitely someone's kitty. The people we spoke with promised to do their part to get the word out. The vet did not have time to work on him today. :( Disappointing. But kitty is sedated, safe and warm. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have some news.
  17. just a bump for those that wanted updates... Nothing new yet. We're off to try to find his owner. (We basically live around the corner from where I found him)
