  1. I don't plan out but I do write down anything that I hear that I will use in future years.
  2. yes, all I use from her system is setting up routines and cleaning in 15min intervals.
  3. I appreciate the push to keep at it. For my b-day I am going to the running store and getting some "real" running shoes. I like my new balance but my curious is up to see if being fitted to something will make a difference. Any ideas on what brands to actually stay away from or what brands may be pushed because of the price but are not necessaily better?
  4. I am not on my 10K training trak due to weird schedule, wanting to um...unplug the treadmill and dh being out of town about 3 days a week I get in almost 6miles and go for 2-3 3 days a week. plus min2 days weight training and 1 taebo. Not kicking myself or maybe I should:D. Is it okay to go 1mile at a time 5x's throughout the morning when I just can't get motivated:rolleyes:
  5. He passed away this morning. Please keep George's family especially his wife Marcia in your prayers.
  6. Be willing to throw the football, shoot hoops, play baseball, soccer etc. We have family games the boys love it and as added benefit it's more exercise for mom. Also, find what would make them happy from playing play dough to board games. I have a unique bond with each of my boy, my middle son loves to cook with me, baby boy loves board games and my oldest at 15 likes to have my undivded attention as he expresses his views on current events or shares his rambling thoughts. Just spending time with them will bring a bond you just have to find out what makes them tick what's important to them and this will change as they get older.
  7. Routines help a lot. They take some time to establish but eventually you find something that works for your family. Also, having a mid-morning and mid-afternoon 10-15min time slot to tidy the house each child having their assigned task really helps or rotate upstairs/downstairs, main areas/bedrooms, bathrooms. etc
  8. One more thing cooked in a hot pan makes a difference.
  9. real butter and we tend to like our cornbread sweet about 1/3 c sugar and we serve this with molasses also I find using medium eggs vs large give a better texture. I find in my recipe the large eggs you get more of a spoon bread type texture.
  10. My 2 year tells strange short stories throughout the day. Example from this morning: My babysister didn't finish her homework but, that's alright. Huh? she does not have a babysister but does tell us stories using "babysister" and talks on her phone to "babysister. She does say random things as she walks around dictating her stories using hands expressively. Normal, strange, stage, silly, imitating the stories of the books we read to her? Anyone experience this?
  11. Has she picked up enough to atleast pass the class with a "C"? With my child I'd give them the "C" for their hs grade and credit then get a tutor before going on to Spanish 2 which should help bring GPA up with a higher grade for Spanish 2. If she is not getting it at all a tutor might be a good idea to get the credit she needs.
  12. I use to have an issue with it because I was I should. However, my opinions on the series have changed over the years and I no longer have issued with it. My children enjoyed the series and the movies and did not turn to the dark side not did they have any interest in trying witchcraft or anything having to do with cults it was just another series of stories they looked forward to reading.
  13. I would not have a problem using gov't resources for much needed temporary situation. I do have an issue with people, even in my own family, that expect it and feel entitled because of their own choices in life. You should not have to explain your pregnancy to anyone and overlook any comments that are just plain rude. You may make yourself ill letting it all get to you. Accepting any needed assistance or help graciously when you need it then giving back to others when you can will teach a multitude to your children.
  14. George was diagnosed with lukemia in September, went through chemo was doing okay, missed a transplant due to illness and has taken a turn for the worse. His wife name is Marcia. Hug your loved ones and call those you haven't taked to in while. Life is precious and just so short.
  15. Yep, what they said. It's time for big brother to go back to bed. One other thought, does he could be getting a cold or some other virus.
  16. We purchased our first home fsbo. We did not have any problems. We even assumed their mortgage. It was a lot of paperwork back then but we managed to get it all complete in 30 days.
  17. Most jeans in his size are about 1-2" to short in length. Any ideas or suggestions? TIA
  18. for 2nd grade addition and subtractionf acts? Or is there a resource you really like for this? TIA
  19. 1. I survived spinal menginitis when i was 2 and I have two holes in my skull where they had to drill to relieve the pressure. 2. I spent 5 years working at McDonalds age 14-19:confused: 3. I went to Pensacola Christian College and only survived 1 semester. 4. My parents moved our family to S Fl when i was 13 and I hated every minute of it. I am so not a beach person and life was pretty much perfect in Mass. My dh rescued me and got me out of there. :p 5. My first car was '76 chevy Nova:eek:
  20. I lost 30lbs last year in 4 months. I started really watching what I ate and drank. Cut out the sugar in my coffee, no bread or rolls at dinner, upped the veggies and fruit, took vitamins more regularly. I started a run/walk program. I got up everymorning around 4A and got my butt out the door day after day after day. I am now running 5-7miles/days mixing this up with taebo, sprints for 30 min, walking at 7-10% incline for 30 min. You just have to move more and eatless this I am sure you already know but it is hard to change bad habits but eventually something clicks and you just do it no more argueing, excuses you just do it because you finally want to. That's all I have to say about that... I'll get off my soap box. You know what you have to do and only you can decide to do it.
  21. How do you know where to start? We find the most perfect 5bdrm home on 5 acres with a pool. It is a foreclosure and needs a lot of work. mostly pressure washing, steam cleaning, patch work and paint and some replacements of bathrooms and a stove. The foyers is hard wood and perfect, just what I dreamed of having some day. The bedrooms are arranged exactly how I wanted them with a princes purple/pink room. The pool needs a liner and pump. Okay now to stop rambling....WHERE DO YOU START. We would live in our old house and not sell it until the other is ready so we won't be living there during the work. Any ideas, suggestions or resources welcome.
  22. I noticed JCPenney had some nice basic skirts this year. as does lands end.
