Both girls have had problems with eczema since infancy, so they have never bathed daily. Their skin would be a total wreck if they did. Body odor is not a big issue this time of year, especially since she uses deodorant. She should be on an every day schedule at this point, but there is only so much battling I can do. :glare:

The only thing I can take away is riding. They don't get screen time and she doesn't do any other activities. Baths are not any better. She has the option of either a bath or shower; she prefers showers to baths. This didn't use to be a problem.

Has anyone else had to deal with a child who fights you tooth and nail about showering? My dd is 10 going on 11 and has experienced body changes this year including starting her period, which makes me think it has mostly to do with that. I only require her to shower once a week ( more often when she really needs it or when there is a special event). It is a battle to get even that accomplished. I am at my wits end with it. I have considered just seeing how long she will go without showering, but I am not sure that is the solution either. Help! I don't want to deal with this anymore.

From the other perspective.....I always wished I had a smaller chest and that I wasn't so curvy. Finding clothes to fit on top meant sleeves that were too long and looked maternity like in the waist. Pants that weren't too tight on my butt, were too big for my waist. After having my twins, my bust size shrank (well, after the whole breast feeding thing was finished). I wear mostly t-shirt type tops now and I am most thankful for pant styles that don't go up to the waist.

My nieces, who range in age from 18 to 25, love Longchamp Le Pliage . The colors are fun, the bags last forever, and they come in a great variety of sizes and shapes. The backpack would be great for someone who is going to be taking charge of kids (keeps your hands free). I have a medium sized shoulder bag, which holds a ton of stuff.

My book group is looking for suggestions for our next book to read. We would prefers something that is uplifting and/or educational. Fiction or non-fiction works for us. Any suggestions?

Whoa! That was incredibly rude of her. No wonder they are having a hard time getting to know people. Sheesh.

Hanna Andersson? I too have been dismayed by the total lack of selection at Lands End this year. They were my go-to retailer for one of my twins. For the other, I shop at Hanna Andersson. I did get the tiered skort, a polo style shirt, and a pair of bermuda shorts from Lands End last month for dd, and they seem okay. There just wasn't much else for her there. Their lack of cute t-shirts was the biggest problem. Also, the swim suits last year were much thinner than in the past.

I did mention that very fact to him, but he is still mad. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think his outrage has more to do with the family than the movie. :glare:

So here is why I ask the questions: My twins were invited to a birthday party yesterday. It was a slumber party, but we don't do those yet, so we picked them up around 9:40 (40 minutes after I said we would pick them up, but dh wanted to go along - a long story - but couldn't pull himself away from watching a baseball game). When we got there, the kids had just started to watch the movie Tintin. DH is very angry that the parents, good friends of mine from church, did not ask if it was okay for our girls to watch the movie and the movie is PG. I agree that the parents probably should have asked before showing the movie, but I assume that they felt the movie content was okay, especially since my girls have read about half of the Tintin books. I asked here about the movie because I am not familiar with it, and I knew most of the group here would be able to give me a pretty good take on it. I am not upset over the whole thing, and dh desn't want our girls going to this family's house ever again. ***sigh***

Would you let your 10 y.o. girl watch it? If not, why? I'll post my reason for asking later.

:iagree: I wouldn't trust information found on Zillow at all. I find that people get very inaccurate and misleading information from there. I just looked on there and if I could get what they say is the estimate for my house, I would put it on the market right this minute (and I am a Realtor).

I went back and reread the article. The fact that the kindergarten teacher made the decision to follow very strictly the guidelines for 3rd graders has me totally dumbfounded. And then, continues on with the charade while a child in her class sits in poop. What a nincompoop (to put it mildly). She should be fired for not having one shred of common sense and her total lack of understanding 5/6 year old children. This one really gets my dander up.

I have had rentals managed by a professional property management company and managed by myself. I will never manage one again on my own. The 10% of the rent that we paid the property manager was well worth it. They screened the renters, collected the rent (and the late fees), did routine checks to make sure the tenant was not trashing the place, and took the calls that the water heater, toilet, whatever was not working. They also called the repair man. Of course, you are still responsible for paying for the repairs; it is your asset after all. If I were in your situation, I would put a renter in IF I could find a good property manager. I can't stand the thought of selling at a loss. The income would be nice, especially if you end up with a good tenant situation. Then you have the rental income and hopefully an increase in value later on.

Honestly, I think one of the biggest problems with our education system today is the fact that all common sense has been taken out of it. What do they think a 6 y.o. is going to do in the bathroom during testing? Cheat on the test??? That poor kid. I would like to see that teacher made to "hold it" the next time she has diarrhea.

:iagree: My rule with my dd who rides is no jumping if no one else is in the ring or in the bleachers next to the ring. She sticks to W-T-C if she has to be alone for a short period of time. I assume your daughter was not jumping or galloping etc. when she was out there alone. If she was jumping etc., then I would talk to her and the instructor. Otherwise, I would keep my lips zipped.

Be sure to ask if they are full-time. There are a lot of realtors who only work the business part-time (have another job) and can't fully devote their attention to your home. Make sure they are part of the local MLS. Ask them where they advertise - look at the local homes magazines, newspaper, Realtor.com, etc. and see how their advertising stacks up to the competition. Don't get hooked into the person who gives you the highest suggested list price. Pick someone who gives you helpful suggestions and is willing to prioritize those suggestions.

:iagree: The less you pay for the car, the more likely you are going to have problems with it or that it will die sooner. I would also hate having that MRI bill nagging me.

Our fridge is excessively cold. Most food freezes in it (we can't control it). So, I guess we should be fine for today.

How long do they keep in the fridge? I am just wondering if the ones we made the day before Easter are still good.
