  1. My thoughts upon reading that article last night was that the teachers from K through 4th grade need to be fired for allowing kids to get all the way to 4th grade without ever having heard of a camel and that it lives in the desert. For Heaven's sake!
  2. Our local YWCA offers adult daycare. You might want to check yours. I'm sorry you are having to go through all this. :grouphug:
  3. If you are Catholic, go to EWTN's website. You can find televised masses there. I am sure Protestants have something similar online, too.
  4. My dd who rides only takes one lesson a week. We currently lease a pony, so she can ride whenever I can get her there. But, most kids at our barn who don't own or lease only ride once a week and they still manage to move up pretty well. Also, our trainer has plenty of horses who need exercise and work, so kids can ask to come and just ride and he generally can accomodate them. We are at a busy barn and the trainer is pretty much there 5 days a week 8-6. Just ask, if you don't you will never know..........
  5. We probably need to do that in our rental house. Do you mind telling me how much that cost? We have natural gas in our home and it is wonderful. Our heating bill is so reasonable compared to what people who have heat pumps pay.
  6. Crazy, isn't it?! Don't forget to change the locks. You never know who has a key.
  7. I have started charm bracelets for my girls. I bought sterling silver bracelets at a local jewelry shop (not fancy) for about $25. I find charms in lots of places, including a shop that sells incense and Indian (as in India) style clothing. Sterling charms range from $10 - $20. I would love to have one myself.
  8. I bought a Canon PowerShot SD1300 last year, my third and last Canon. I get better pictures with my Blackberry and iPhone than I do with that camera. My first digital camera was the same one only an earlier version and it took beautiful pictures. My kids broke the lens, so I bought another Canon but a different model. It lasted about a year before it started having problems. So, I went back to the ELPH and I haven't been happy with it since I bought it. I always bought Nikon when I had film cameras and I think I will go back to them when I scrape together the funds for a new camera. The kids can have this one. :tongue_smilie:
  9. Do you have a contract with this guy to buy the house? If not, the cabinets are his problem and not yours. Also, if you don't have a contract and intend to buy the house, you need to get one ASAP. If you do have a contract, what does the contract say about kitchen cabinets? Being in the business of house flipping, I am sure he can use those cabinets on another project. So, I would not worry about them one bit, unless you have a contract that obligates you to purchase them.
  10. :iagree: Word of mouth is the only way I know of, unless he is a personal injury lawyer. In that case, I would say TV advertising would be the best way. What is his specialty?
  11. It is probably a good idea, but I don't think you or your dh are the target. This is a pretty common scam. The person putting it up is trying to get potential renters to either give their personal information so the scammer can get credit/money through their credit or to get the potential renters to send money for the rental deposit.
  12. I know USDA has income guidelines for their mortgages such that you can't make more than a certain amount in order to qualify for their financing (seems backward doesn't it!!!). I don't know if those limits continue for after you get your loan. That sure does seem stupid, but it is the government we are talking about!
  13. In the interest of full disclosure, I did get to participate and received the gift card too (I didn't know that was even a benefit of participating until after I submitted my evaluation). I sort of understand why people are upset about not getting to participate after being told they could, but not entirely. In the grand scheme of things, there is so much more to be upset over in life. It's a small company, not Mattel. People make mistakes.
  14. After it is in your cart, look at the "sold by" part. The order is actually being fulfilled by another business in NY. The free shipping is longer than 2 day, probably because it is someone else actually shipping the item. When I put it in my cart the default was the free shipping, but 3-5 days instead of 2.
  15. I was hoping someone would say those air purifier contraptions suck all the dust out of the air. We have ancient wall to wall carpeting and I think it makes the dust even worse. Top that off with two "kittens" who shed like no cat I have ever had before, and you have a VERY dusty house. I want a machine to plug in that will suck all the dust out of the air before it even hits the surfaces. :D
  16. I agree, to an extent. However the husband in this case would need to be responsible for all exterior care of the home, the cars, paying bills, getting things fixed in the house, etc. I think in many cases those things also get piled on top of the stay-at-home mom. That piling of responsibilities can get overwhelming. When people get overwhelmed, the accomplish even less.
  17. The ibuprofen solution really helps with my flow. My period seems to last longer, but at least the flow is manageable.
  18. The fireplace and the paneling can be painted, so don't focus too much on them. If the beachy theme and color scheme of the Jeeo make you happy, work with them. The navy leather chair and ottoman are neutral enough that you can work around them. A throw pillow or blanket can easily transform the appearance/feel of the chair.
  19. I do. And she will eventually get in the shower, but not without drama, shouting, tears, etc. first.
  20. I have tried this. Her "why" is that she just doesn't like it, which is not very helpful. :glare: I guess I will just keep trying to get through.
  21. Well, that is basically how it works here, but it is still a battle most of the time. The one place she really wants to go to is riding. Telling her she has to have showered within 24 of going riding doesn't work all that well, since everyone would really prefer that she shower AFTER riding. :tongue_smilie:
