  1. My kids get disappointed if they are not done with school by 2:00 every day to watch I Dream of Jeannie. We also like the Cosby Show and Green Acres. They think "old-timey cartoons that Dad used to watch" are fun, too. (Voltron, ThunderCats, and GI Joe)
  2. For seven hours today I peddled my stuff. In that seven hours I had people ask why I didn't have any adult clothing. I pointed out to them the sections of men's and ladies clothing. They still weren't happy. Some people complained I didn't have enough big kid stuff. Several people complained because there is stray cat in my yard that they think I should take in. Stray cat has mangy coat with fur missing on side. None of them seemed too willing to take it home, yet acted like I am a big meanie for not wanting it. All that, and I made $48.00. Never.again.will.I.ever.have.a.yard.sale!!
  3. moxie My nine year old loves to say "lard" My seven year old's favorite thing is now "barf humbug"
  4. That part made me lol  because my husband often will say, "Make it so, Number One," when he asks me to do something.
  5. I second that one! My third grader and seventh grader did level A together last year. VERY rare to find something that they are doing completely together. There is a DVD a CD included in the mastery pack.
  6. If you e-mail them telling them that you read in the front of your book that the flash cards are available but can't find them on the website, they will send you a reply with a link to a file of the cards. :D
  7. My son liked doing Primer. If you have an older, it is nice for the little to have a math worksheet, too.
  8. Thanks! We will be studying Vikings soon so this is very timely for us. I have something to add. This game looks fun, is printable and free!!
  9. If I cut it, I usually put it in the fridge. It gets icky leaving it out.
  10. For the 12 year old I would suggest a MacArthur Study Bible. They come in New American Standard, New King James, and English Standard, that I know of. There are several color choices for the covers. Our youth group has these. As far as the younger, I am still on the lookout for a big-boy Bible for my youngest, too. Right now he uses a Precious Moments Bible.
  11. I try to pre-read. It sometimes doesn't happen. One thing I like about Tapestry of Grace is that it gives warnings if there is anything objectionable in an assigned reading. And their idea of objectionable is usually more strict than mine.
  12. My husband decided to give the boys chores "to help me out" It is much more time consuming and stressful to go behind and redo than to just do it myself in the first place.
  13. We have Charter and love them. Our biggest concern is being able to get through to a local person when we call. Once you get everything established, it should go smoothly.
  14. My prayer has always been for all my boys to marry a Christian. A Christian by deed, not just by word. I really hope that they are able to find someone with the same values and interests as them and who they can have meaningful conversations with (as well as talk about goofy stuff like which Jedi is the coolest:tongue_smilie:) Their age, education, ethnicity, etc is not important to me as long as they are happy with my kiddos.
  15. The messiest thing was a book dh brought home from a conference. The more normal things are rocks, legos, rubber bands, shark teeth (or random teeth found in the when out exploring:confused:) keys (my remote key chain has been washed three times and still works!:D) I found a whole bunch of bazooka bubble gum once (thankfully BEFORE it went in the dryer.) I have washed my husband's wallet twice and his knife he has for work once. Feathers also make a big mess in the washer if there are enough of them. :tongue_smilie:
  16. We can't control what something costs. We try to not to spend outrageous amounts every week, but sometimes prices go up.
  17. My first year of homeschooling, I saw an online printable math game where you made a castle out of cardstock. Each turn the kids would do a math problem to get closer to the castle gates. By the end they would "storm the gates and loot the castle" (you could put some treat or small toys in the castle for the loot.) I printed it off, we played a few times, then something happened to it. Now that we are studying Middle Ages it would be great to have. Only problem is, I can't find it online. Does anyone know where it is fond or at least the name of it????
  18. :party:I remember the excitement of getting that first year plan! I think my ups man thinks I must be one of those "doesn't get out much " types. I was watching for him and met him out in the driveway!
  19. The heat here has been so bad it takes my breath. Our dog has not been doing anything except laying on the carport. Kind of makes me thankful that I live in a time period that has a/c. (and Dr Pepper with lots of crushed ice :D)
