  1. Has anyone used this with the dvd's? Did you like the teacher? My dd who has been in ps for 9th and 10th grades is thinking of returning to homeschooling next year. My head is spinning.
  2. I used TTC 2nd edition with ds, but I sold them last year since dd was in ps:mad: I also sold my complete set of Foerster's alg 2, my A & P books....sigh
  3. My dd (10th grade) is currently is in ps, but is thinking of returning home next year- I'm stunned:). I'm brainstorming curriculum choices.
  4. I just wanted to mention that the writing assignments are pertinent- no fluff. I dislike assignments such as :"pretend you are...., write a letter to....etc. In EiL DS has written historical approach papers, author profile papers, literary analysis, and literary summaries- sooo much more than his sister who is in ps.
  5. My dc are in 11th and 10th grade. We have used everything throughout our homeschool journey including : IEW, Wordsmith, Writing Strands, CW Aesop and Homer, Lost Tools of Writing level I etc, etc. The one tool that seemed to help my dc more than anything (and this is their opinion as well) was the Sentence Composing for .... Students by Killgallon. We used all three levels- elementary, middle school, and high school. I recently found that there is a college level too! I'll probably order it just for fun:001_smile: Another favorite is The New Oxford Guide to Writing. Maybe this worked so well because of the numerous tools we had used in the past-I don't know. I do know that there was a definite leap in writing ability after we used it.
  6. Yes, we are using the British lit this year (although not exclusively). It is one of my favorite homeschool finds.
  7. :iagree: We did BJU biology without the dvds and it was tough ( I have a BS degree) It is really hard to know what to emphasize. This year we are using BJU Chemistry with the dvd's Wow! what was I thinking with biology??? Chemistry is ds's favorite class this year. We used Apologia's A & P in 10th grade (ds wants to be a vet) and enjoyed it. We will stay with BJU for physics as well (with dvd's, of course)
  8. Yep, I did this as well. This year I do pre-cal at night. Dh says he can't wait until the day that I no longer bring books to bed;)
  9. I only have the syllabus ( I ordered it to evaluate the course) which contains weekly plans, two quizzes/answers, and six exams/answers. They do offer an "answer key with ChemASAP student online access" S
  10. Here is a helpful syllabus I found this last year which uses the PH book: http://www.smes.org/classes/chemistry/firstyear/index.htm I also ordered the syllabus from Kolbe, but IMO, it didn't have enough assessments. FWIW, decided on BJU with videos. I compared it to PH and found them to be at the same level.
  11. Ds will be taking it tomorrow.:001_smile: :grouphug:
  12. I used it as a supplement to Henle and liked it. It is very user friendly. I can't say about credits, sorry.
  13. I'm reading Byzantium, by Steven Lawhead. So far it is great. I lacked about 30 pages of P. D. James, Death in Holy Orders and had to put it in the "give away pile"- definitely not for me.
  14. I REALLY enjoyed Hannah Coulter. Berry is a great writer.
  15. Lisa, I couldn't get the link to work, but I would love to see your stuff! I went to my knitting class last night and found out I had to redo on of the braids of my scarf:sad:; it was too wide. I used the same number of stitches as the first braid but didn't account for the bulkier yarn. I'm sure it is the first of many remakes!!
  16. Would you ladies post pictures of some of your work? I'd love to see since I am just beginning.:001_smile:
  17. It is Lion Brand (108 yards). I bought enough for a scarf, and it cost $32, but the colors are beautiful and rich. My goal is to make Christmas stockings - guess I'll have to make an investment! Thanks for the suggestions.
  18. THANK YOU, ladies!! I'm a beginner, but I love, love, love knitting! You have helped so much.
  19. Where do you buy your yarn? I purchased beautiful wool yarn, but it was $7.99/ skein:ack2: Do you have an on-line supplier that you like?
  20. We bought our almost 17yo ds a 1998 Ford F150 extended cab on April 1st (dh's birthday-happy birthday,Dad:D:D) My Dad purchased my older children a car when they were 16 (they are 30 and 28 now). Dad has long since retired, but I'm just blessed that he helped the older two:). Ds will pay gas and half of insurance just as his older siblings did. DD is 15 but won't get a car until she is 17.
  21. :001_huh: YUK!! I think it would be interesting to see how long it takes a homemade burger/fries to decompose.
