  1. I can't remember. I'm sure that I have left them somewhere though. I'm a little spacey at the best of times and I don't know how a person can possibly keep track of 6 children without ever getting distracted to the point of forgetting one of them momentarily. One thing that could be pointed out to the FB moms is that even Jesus' parents lost track of him at one point. Granted, he was 12 but they actually got a day out of town before they relised their mistake.
  2. These aren't horse stories but they're similar themes. We liked Bambi (the book is WAY different than the movie) and Call of the Wild. They're both animal books that personify the animals and consider their suffering at the hands of humans.
  3. I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to offend you. I really can be dense sometimes. I can see what you were trying to say.
  4. Last hijack. I changed my avatar. Maybe Mommaduck will object still but I can't see how the Catholic church gets to own the pascal lamb symbol. It's even the emblem on Shane Clabourne's book, "Jesus for President." He's definitely not Catholic.
  5. I don't want to hijack this thread too much but you please tell me if all images of the victorious lamb/agnes dei would give this impression or is it the particular one that I chose? Thanks.
  6. I'm having trouble remembering that. I did know that other groups use that symbol but I don't recall learning that it exclusively denotes one denomination. That bothers me. Had I really understood what I was being told I'm pretty sure that I would have changed it earlier. Give me a day and I'll pick a new one.
  7. Hmmm... I didn't know that it represented a particular denomination. I just really appreciate the image of Jesus as the victorious lamb. I think that I'll find a new one.
  8. I'm going to jump into the fray here and go out on a limb. I agree 100% with this tract. I also want to say that all you commenting on how this sounds like a college paper are wrong. I actually personally know the author of this tract. We lived in close Christian community with him and his family. He has never been to college. In his teens he was a rich, pot smoking, surfer. He repented of this and went to a YWAM. Next he became a Calvary Chapel pastor but then grew convicted about his own lifestyle and started to preach that we ought to strive for righteousness. He now lives in community with several other families in OR. Our family would love to move there and join them but can't because of immigration issues. The tract is found through this site: www.walklikechrist.com . I personally know the man that made this site and some of the tracts and sermons on the site are produced by my own husband (Joel Mawhorter). I can assure you that you won't get a virus from any of the downloads. Editted to add: Scott Schones (the author) is the most joyful person that I know. I told my dc that some of you thought that Scott that sounded joyless and they laughed and laughed. He is always singing and happy. Moody or joylessness is NOT Scott's weakness.
  9. rubbermaid bins or cardboard boxes her very precious dollies when my ds was two his favourite was a little construction man figure that went with him everywhere and were placed on every block creation. All little figures in our house get funny biblical names. This one happened to be Ichabod. He's still quite fond of Ichabod. duplo or megablocks
  10. I've been curious. I was on a board break when the konmari thread's gagillion posts has me a little intimidated about trying to figure out what it's about. Can someone give me a summary so that I can decide if it's worth it?
  11. Upload this picture <http://i902.photobucket.com/albums/ac223/fionnak/Dancingbacon_zpsf671072b.gif>then add it to your signature line.
  12. I dare you all to steal the bacon for a day and add to your siggys just to confuse the heck out of everyone on board.
  13. We really work at avoiding burns. I don't remember my last burn. I used to get them when I was younger but I haven't had one in the last 5-10 years. My 12yo ds will sometimes get a bit pink. It'll be tan by the following morning. This will happen maybe once or twice a summer. He never blisters or peels. We really do try to avoid this though with clothing.
  14. More details: We live at about the latitude of the southern tip of the Alaska panhandle. I'm 35.
  15. I never wear it nor do my dc. We're super fair. I live in a northern climate so we almost never burn and I like vitamin d. Why should I/we wear sunscreen?
  16. My ignorance, I suppose. The dusk jacket talks about how she was safe from the Nazis because she was hidden in a French convent. I just didn't see it coming.
  17. A Hidden Childhood by Frida Scheps Weinstein
  18. My 12yo ds handed me a library book this morning that I had picked out for him and pointed to a paragraph for me to read. It was a horrible vivid description of a the rape of 7yo girl :( . The book is an autobiography of a Jewish holocaust survivor. She had been hidden by a group of nuns in a convent. I feel so awful that I exposed my son to that. All that I could do was apologize to him. Dh will debrief with him later. It was in the children's section! I'm going to take the book in and ask the librarian to consider moving it into the adult section. I really hope they do something. I hope no one thinks I'm advocating censorship. It should be common sense. Right? Now a PSA. Please, please, please, google every title you pick out for your dc. You just never know when something will bite you like this.
  19. We would eat it. All the mineral will still be there. Elements can't breakdown or vanish. Basic chemistry still applies.
  20. My 12yo dd would struggle with the logic part and my 12yo ds would struggle with the writing aspect.
  21. Gah!!!! That would be SOOOO embarrassing. My 12yo boy was horrified watching this.
