  1. So ds3 came out of his room and said he finished watching all the Marvel movies and he didn't know what to watch next. Dh said he should watch some classic movies ds3: like Empire Strikes Back? Dh is appalled.
  2. Well, ds1 is unemployed. Hopefully, his restaurant will be able to re-open in May. Dd2 has a team meeting over Zoom in an hour. She is so unhappy- I hope she can find a way through. Only the dog is happy.
  3. Ds3 said that he is completely caught up in school (from losing a month with his eye injury). "all it took was a pandemic, I guess." He is my first student not be behind in his work in March. Ever.
  4. I am back home- and have had coffee and bagels. Next up: return the rental Then home, laundry, general clean up and read a little.
  5. Well, I picked up ds2 at college. The dorms were closing so we have all his stuff. I drove through fog and rain all morning to hit snow at the CO border. I-76 is closed so ds3 and I are in a hotel in Sterling. 100 miles away- so close. No restaurants- just some frozen microwave meals available. Jeepers.
  6. Good morning! It is drizzling and grey here. And I slept badly. And it is my birthday! Not really how I expected my 50th to go. Everthing I had planned to celebrate is cancelled. Feeling a wee bit sorry for myself- should be over it after coffee. coffee/paper clean kitchen read figure out if the restaurant we were going to tonight is open my other birthday plans are cancelled pick up rental car (need a bigger car for ds3's stuff) at airport pack for trip to pick up ds3 dinner? Have a great day!
  7. This is not homeschooling- which is an intentional choice. And it is not school- so packets and busywork really aren't teaching kids anything and parents aren't being called in to sit with their kids and teach them math. Plus-a huge part of school is, in fact, group socialization. Online classes sometimes work well- often they don't. There will be a wide variety of quality in education even across districts. Seniors in high school this year should just get a pass/fail grade on their current classes. That would sort out a group that is devasted for their social events- prom, graduation, spring sports, musicals, other perfomances. Just pass them, graduate them and focus on the upcoming classes. That would free up kids to work, enlist, etc. Actually everyone should just get pass/fail for the year. If everyone does it- it doesn't hurt anyone- just an asterisk on a transcript. 2020- all spring classes pass/fail.
  8. Shrub moved. Bathrooms cleaned inhaler ordered for ds3 few online chores- then.. I am going to eat lunch and read and then clean the kitchen.
  9. The new router is working- I love, love our wireless provider- small and jointly provided with the city. We picked a new one up and had it working in an hour. ds3 is doing school, dd2 is sleeping still. I paid bills and canceled all the rest of the trips. We rented a bigger car to go and pick up ds2. Nothing can be stored, everything has to come home. At least the car was cheap. I am going to work in the garden- wrestle that shrub- get all my anger out on that poor yellow twig dogwood.
  10. Our router broke last night- so I am posting from my phone. Everything is canceled and dh is constantly fielding calls- 6 last night alone. Ds2's college is closing on Thursday- so I will drive up to get him. today- router problem sorted- huge priority transplant shrub- did the vine and rose yesterday. ds3 will do school laundry dd2- who knows- no swim, no gym no school. It will be a long day. No idea about dinner. have a great day!
  11. My mother, a pro Bernie person, has been out and about all week. I love in a huge blue county with a large retirement age population and they are everywhere now - restaurants, stores. Seeming to not care at all.
  12. Good morning! It stayed in the 30s most of the day yesterday- so I didn't work outside. Today should be nicer- so I will do the transplanting this afternoon. coffee/book laundry (started) dh to the store for doughnuts and milk ds3 to tennis work in yard pick up ds3 something easy for dinner watch a movie? Have a great day!
  13. I hear you. Small house-extroverted dh and dd2. I am browsing Amazon for more comfortable headphones.
  14. Dd2's friends are having a bonfire party tonight. Outdoors, around 15 people and it is cold enough that everyone is wearing gloves. Honestly, I think it is fine. No risk factors for anyone here or in her friends' homes. These kids have been around each other nearly every day for hours at a time for months. Mental health for outgoing extroverted teens is important too.
  15. Good morning! It is still grey and cold from yesterday's rain and tiny attempt at snow. But the sun should be out later and it will warm up. Dh is now working from home for the next two weeks. dd2 is home, ds3 is always home. There is no place to hide anymore. coffee/paper dig some holes to transplant a few things- re-doing the front porch so I need to move a rose, small honeysuckle vine, and smallish shrub. quick trip to Home Depot work in the back yard dh is playing tennis ds3 has tennis not sure what dd2''s plans are no idea about dinner Have a great day!
  16. No alternative to lots of things. Seniors losing out on championship events- Kids who have worked for years for these opportunities. AP kids still have the knowledge. Colleges will understand. As I said, lots of kids are crushed right now. Let's be kind to all of them.
  17. Like championship games and meets that are already canceled. Lots of kids crushed right now.
  18. Good morning! dd2's district closed for today and next week- and then the next is Spring Break. So she is asleep- dh decided to stay home today- because he was supposed to be on vacation anyway. And ds3 is sleeping in-because well, he's a 15 yo homeschooled boy. And he still has work to do. His siblings are teasing him on our family chat- dd1 said she thought snow days were a myth until she got to college. 😂 There is always work to be done... coffee/paper clean kitchen plant some seeds in milk jugs read laundry (started) school with ds3 sew/hand work ds3 to tennis not sure what else is going on- dinner? Have a great day!
  19. Schools just closed here for 2 weeks (one of which is Spring Break).
  20. I get all the cancellations for the pandemic- I really do and I support them. BUT...I have a weeping girl who had surgery last June and has sacrifced SO MUCH for the championship meet that was just cancelled. Only those who love her have any idea of how hard she has worked to come back. Nothing to be done- except that people need to have a little sympathy for thousands of kids who are all crushed. Non-essential things like athletics still mean a lot to those who do them.
  21. Good morning! Regular Thursday here. d2's field trip was canceled- so she has to go to school. dd1's school move to online classes at least until April 5th but probably longer. She and her classmates are really upset- because online is not at all an appropriate substitute for in person law school classes. And as she and her classmates are taking out huge loans for the privilege of classes (tuition tops 65k a year) and only 900 people are enrolled- they are not pleased. She has major oral arguments due before April 5th- not sure how all that is going to work. Other than that- watching our retirement collapse again (just when we had really started to recover from 2008...) and watching for major cancellations of trivial things to the world- but big, huge, massive deals to my kids, I am going to read, clean house, garden and not go online for hours at a time. coffee/paper dd2 off to school send some emails get ds3 working a little clean bathrooms work outside- plot out where roses are going laundry transfer some patterns ds3 to tennis handwork or sew- dh may come home (he was supposed to be on vacation-so he has no meetings) pick up ds3 figure out dinner Have a great day!
  22. Good morning! Really not a fan of the new dark mornings... I like light at the beginning of the day. Regular day here. coffee/paper dd2 went to practice/dh is getting ready for work school with ds3 internet chores library/post office check ds3's work (he was supposed to be gone- so he is ahead- but I am still trying to get him to get something done everyday) daily chores/weekly chores ds3 to tennis sew/read figure out dinner pick up ds3 everyone is home tonight Have a great day!
  23. That was just mean to give everyone an ear worm. I can't wait to share with my kids 😂
  24. I would not eat it. Not a bite. husband would be very irritated. I would not care.
