  1. Looking for ideas for a German craft to do with a group of home school kiddos. The kids are 8-14, and the craft window can be up to 2 hours. Anyone have any ideas or links to share please? Thanks...Carol
  2. Looking for suggestions for a writing programme for grades 6 and 8. Anything new out there? Thanks Carol
  3. I agree! My oldest daughter was born with this. We patched, as glasses were not needed they said. She has had numerous surgeries to correct the muscles. But at 22 she has basically lost all vision in her one eye, not because of any damage to her eye, but because the brain will shut down the problem eye so the child is not seeing double vision. I have also read that it treatment is not started before 1 year or age it can be permanent. We were posted in Germany and she was over 1 when we came back, upsets me still it might not havebeen permanent had we had it treated from the start instead of listening to the local military doctors at the time.
  4. Worst front-loader ever! Drainage errors from almost day 1 and still 5 yrs later. :ack2:
  5. Thanks all!! I picked up a few of those books at the library, will start reading up. We have to go in Feb., my dh has organised a bike race down in Florida then, we tagging along to go to Disney lol. I am trying to make it easy by finding a package deal on site, as I do not drive. We're so looking forward to this!!
  6. I am planning our first visit to Disney in February. I want to get a package that includes everything, meals, passes, and hotel. We plan on staying 1 week, 2 kids, 2 adults. Where should I look for deals. Also I am Canadian, so any Canadians know where to look for deals/packages? Thanks all!
  7. Oh yes!! If you are easily addicted I suggest staying far, far away lol. It is a beautiful game, and a lot of fun. I am thinking it is somewhat like WoW, same format.
  8. This is my very first MMO lol, still a newbie lol. I play on Brandywine. I have a level 52 hunter, and 28 lore-master. Not sure if I am liking the lore-master yet lol, but the hunter is fun. My kids all play also, and DH and his siblings.
  9. Anyone else play LOTRO ~ Lord of the Rings Online?
  10. I think you may be right, I know we love the programme! It is a lot of fun, but being the not so creative one lol...I need the dvd. Thanks :001_smile:
  11. Is anyone else still waiting for the DVD (Also included are DVDs with videos of all the step-by-step drawing lessons) to be sent? When I ordered this programme(ages ago) the slip said it would be sent within a week. I have emailed her, but the email address keeps bouncing my emails back. Anyone have a different email than the one listed on her site? It is a great programme, we're really enjoying it...but would love to have the dvd. http://www.ellenjmchenry.com/id151.html
  12. Blogger was doing this to me with my blog, and a few others I go to on Blogger also. It has something to do with the Friends Connect widget we/they added on their blogs, some glitch. Once I removed mine it worked fine again. :001_smile:
  13. Thanks all!! ne more question, while looking for a downtown, somewhat central location to the things we want to do I came across the River Hotel at 75A East Wacker Drive. How is this area, safety wise is my biggest concern as we'd be out walking all over. Carol
  14. We're heading to Chicago for a weekend and I am looking for a safe hotel downtown that we can easily head over to The Field Museum, The Museum of Science and Industry, and a few other places. I do not drive, so I need one that is fairly good for walking or hoping on the bus. Any suggestions? I found these package deals, what would be closest and safest? http://www.fieldmuseum.org/plan_visit/hotels.htm Thanks!
  15. We've read it and are right now reading the second book, Dandelion Fire. My kids are 9 and 11.
  16. Oh we're heading down to Chicago for a weekend soon, looking forward to any replies you get. Carol
  17. That is great, something to be said for "enjoying math", makes a huge difference I am seeing. That is what I am seeing, she can do the Singapore 6fine, but is really not enjoying some of it. I just checked my library and it has the decimals, fractions, and beginning algebra for LoF, so I have put a hold on them.
  18. Thanks so much, and yes looking through the TT Pre-Alg. I thought it was no where near what Sinapore teaches for pre-alg. But then I keep thinking well, a lot of people discount Singapore as "little workbooks", not enought to them. Our library has LoF, I need to take them out and have a look at them. Great for your daughters results and thanks again!
  19. My daughter(11, almost 12), grade 6, is finishing up Singapore Math Primary 6. I looked into TT and decided 7 was too easy, Algebra 1 was closer to where she is now in Singapore Math 6, BUT decided to go with Pre-Algebra. She has done very well with Singapore, but this last year she did not enjoy math as much as she was working so hard to understand and complete it. So I though I'll get the Pre-Alg., and let her have a nice year regrouping, but we got it and it looks way to easy, word problems are so not on the same level at all with Singapore 6. Has anyone used it after Singapore 6, what did you think? Maybe I am juding it too soon? Maybe I should have just gone with the Algebra 1? Thanks :001_smile:
  20. When I was a dental asst., I used to see kids in the WAITING ROOM eating bags of chips. Guess who they usually threw up on? UGH!
  21. They are worth it, all except the Cuisainart pasta attachemnt, I cannot tell you how disappointed in that item I was. I could have made a mountain of pasta with my hand crank model in the time I spent making enough pasta for dinner with the Cuisainart pasta maker lol. Once you have home made pasta, you never go back they say. My kids actually do all the cranking now, so even less work for me. I have heard the Atlas model is the best, but mine is a Shule and it has worked well so far. I think I remember reading just make sure it is heavy and clamps down to the counter.
  22. For sure, go see it, in 3-D if you can! My daughter loved the movie, but enjoyed the book a lot more.
