  1. Ditto! But I suppose we have to live with it and make the best of it. Those long subject lines in the hybrid mode are a little annoying...I am trying to type a title now instead of just plunging into the text.
  2. sleep as much as you feel like it. I did sleep for all of October practically after having surgery the end of September. My doctor told me I would feel this way and he said if I sleep when I feel tired and not force myself to stay awake, I will recover much faster - and he was right! Take all the time it takes, then it's over for good! :)
  3. stroke the neck, that makes them swallow...but first you have to get the darn pill in there and for that I have to refer to the other posters suggestions. :D
  4. google "Straus Dairy" and see where their distributors are - don't know if they have any in TN. They do not ordinarily ultra-pasteurize their organic milk. I have also found Organic Valley offered in "just" pasteurized and in ultra-pasteurized. I prefer just pasteurized and would really like it if Organic Valley came out with some raw milk. There is raw milk available where I live but only in one store in town and I cannot think of the name right now.
  5. As far as the part about "nurturing" goes, have you thought about providing childcare first and eventually perhaps adoption as several other people have mentioned? I know people who have adopted through foster care and while it's a ton of paperwork (probably is anywhere) they were happy with it. I can relate to your statement about living in the country and having to drive miles and miles everywhere. But I have to admit that I still like living out here even though many times I have wished I was closer to town ,especially when the gasoline prices rise and rise...
  6. LOL! When we were about ten, my girlfriend and I decided once we would spend a whole night in a storage barn so we could jump off the hay bales, pretend-drive the tractors and eat chocolate all night long! Something interfered - I cannot remember what - it never came to pass. ;)
  7. Amy, I am headed there as well. This spring it's coming. I will just be glad if he stays on the right side of the road. Seriously though, I would start the same way. First go on country / less traveled roads until he gets a feel for this whole driving thing, then progress into a little more traffic and more and then...gulp, the freeway. My son has been driving around our property but it's a whole different ball game out in the *real world*! By the time we get going you will be miles ahead of us. I'll be asking you what was the most important thing, I'd guess not to kill them?! ;)
  8. Just found your blog a few weeks back and saw a picture of your kitties.
  9. It would be hard to have enough "human pills" on hand for the dosage to affect a horse. Is it a wound? Will hot/cold packs help? Pigeon fever? I also keep Bute in case of an ER. I know one herbal pain reliever that is used by humans and horses: Jiagoluan (I think I butchered the spelling a bit) but it's so specific, I never knew anyone who had it just "on hand".
  10. CalicoKat, how are you feeling? I still find this format a little more cumbersome but since I have an opinion on a lot of topics, I do post. It seems harder to just quickly look what's going on. Sigh. New tricks are hard on this old dog. Take care of yourself!!! No heavy lifting! :)
  11. Congratulations to both of you, Jann in TX and Colleen! Jann, you got one year on us and we have a few on Colleen & Hans. It's not always the easiest road but one worth sticking to - I think. :)
  12. ...you need to get work done?? Don't you deserve nothing but leisurely walks to Jamba Juice and Starbucks and along the beach, enjoying sunrise/sunset whichever you prefer? Didn't you just fly around half the world smack dab in the middle of the Christmas holidays and all of this on the military's timeline?? ENJOY! Are there storms in Paradise? I always need to know what the weather is like - I am weird that way...
  13. Crissy, you just hit it. If we work for someone else we justify doing the best job possible but when it's our own, we feel guilty. Women are a tweaked lot! ;)
  14. I just tried Jackie's info out and gave her some feedback and promptly forgot to leave my name - LOL, and that after all this discussion. Well, now you know it was little ole' me. :)
  15. I can see that I have *11 points*, there are no visible comments and my button hasn't turned red yet! LOL. What do the points mean? Oh, and don't worry about any of this. I doubt this feature will last very long. Susan Wise Bauer responded in the thread Kristine (I think?) started about this, and she agreed that it may have to go because it invites abuse.
  16. 1. Funny posts like yours - it's been years I had Star War paraphernalia in/on my bookshelf 2. Nice winter weather - I love the cooler months 3. Hot chocolate and a hot woodstove 4. Wood in the woodshed and still a little money left in the checking account 5. I have finally figured out this board so I can read and reply to a few posts Ohhh, only three, huh? Sorry, overshot the mark a bit. :)
  17. My first foreign (ahem!) kiss was at church camp. Doran Doran, we are having church camp coming up and now I'm thinking about it twice...ds 16yo is signed up. :D Nice to finally see you on this board!
  18. ...you could look into "direct entry" midwife program. Direct entry means you don't have to have a degree in nursing. One such program is offered *National Midwifery Institute*. They offer online courses. Check if CO would accept that if moving there is a definite. Good luck and chin up. *A deed begun is a deed halfway done* :)
  19. Of course you don't know what your are feeling - of course your head is spinning. Mine would be too! You need some of that peace that surpasses all understanding. Will pray.
  20. I thought it would be great not to have to hunt around for the specific bags and just shake/rinse out the container but I found that my bagless did not work as well as the Kenmore with a bag. I went back to GE with a bag. If you can afford a Miele - you will likely not regret it. My aunt has one and loves it and several people here (on the old board at least) were in favor of Miele.
  21. I just tried to find this feature in CP and all that came up is *11 points* but no comments I can see. How extraordinarily weird! I agree with the other posters - we don't need a *reputation* option. Even though assuming that we are all adults on this forum, this feature seems to invite abuse. Just disregard it. I have never checked anyone's reputation before reading or replying to their posts!
