  1. I have a 4 1/2 year old and a 3 year old. We obviously have not gotten in to the whole "friends" issue yet. BUT there is a really, really sweet family at church. My oldest and hers get along so well. They have really started "clinging" to us latley. Inviting the girls over, etc. (I always have an excuse) The mom "needed" me to watch her girl while she was at work today and tomorrow. The babysitter had previous plans. I agreed. total mistake!! She had not been here 2 hours and this is what they have done and what my dd has learned: ~Some song that talks about "your humps"? ~what a boyfriend is? ~why you need to wear mascara (at 4 and 5 yr old!!!!) ~WHERE BABIES COME FROM! (totally obsesed with private areas) ~HANNAH MONTANNA songs (we do not allow Hannah Montanna in the house) ~my oldest has now learned how to MISTREAT her little sister. She never did anything wrong to her, they played so well. Now all of the sudden she is saying things like "leave us alone, this is for big girls" or "you are baby you have to go back downstairs" ~dd has been TOTALLY disrespectful to me!!!! I can not take this! What has she done to my child? Or better yet, what have I done to my child by not preparing her to handle this? Just a little confused!
  2. that is a pet peeve of mine!!!! KETCHUP! Everyone ASSUMES that since I have children that they automatically need to give them ketchup! NO! They do not even realize that the stuff exists until they see otehr kids with it.;)
  3. Ewww! I agree. I am amazed at what I put in myown body at times. As far as Ice Cream-- Bryers All Natural is pretty good!
  4. how about something like load them up and go for a picnic or something? Something away from the hosue for a day?
  5. I am amazed at how the goverment in general is maing parents out to be the bad guys!.....always!
  6. I have an almost 5 year old and a almsot 3 year old. We did not start the OLDEST dd on toothpaste with flouride until she was 4 (and could spit).......we buy water without flouride. We use XYLITOL for cavitiy protection. I only use flouride once a day on the oldest dd and someties we skip a day. We use the tothpaste with XYLITOL after every meal. You can find it at health food sores and recently I found it at wal-mart on the top shelf ----Tom's of Maine ---is what is at wal-mart SPRY is my favorite. Hope that hlps
  7. I feel for you mama! ((((HUGS))) I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND where you are. I feel like I am there myself, so I do nto have much advice. Other than what has made me feel better is, doing something! Making the decision to actually ......clean out the bathtub, read a book to the girls, etc. I was sick for a while and I got into a MAJOR rut., it is hard to get out. I will be keeping an eye on this thread and see what other mamas say. YoU CAN DO IT MAMA!! WE CAN DO IT!
  8. no but I wanted to!!!! :bigear: I agree that I think a power saw would be the only thing to get it off
  9. good rule! I like the cashews , however---no riasins!
  10. Inever really thought about it before. Bt my oldest dd has VERY VERY curly blonde hair and everyone stops to comment on it and TOUCH it. People make a BIG deal over the oldest and never even look at the youngest. It hurts...both of them and me. No one means any harm though. For this reason, I am alot more aware of talking to strangers and responding to strangers. My oldest wil jsut start taling to EVERYONE and it usually goes like this, "Hi, my name is C---. I am 4. We live in S----. My daddy works at -----. My grandma jsut got a new car. She has been sick. My little sister is 2. She is mean to me sometimes.......etc." And it keeps GOING AND GOING AND GOING!!!! I am glad she is friendly but we jsut don't blab everything the everyone! Of course, dd says "WHY NO"? ummmm......just becasue????
  11. ok....so you have really struck a cord with me and I thought that me and my DH were the only ones who felt this way.... WHERE ARE THE MEN IN THE CHURCH?!!! I think. just from looking at the responses, that MAYBE it is different for everybody (duh!)....I mean, I am in a church where I would, quite honestly, rather my child be upstairs with the family during worship than in Chidlrens Church at this point. My oldest is about to move up to another Sunday School class with another teacher and I jsut assume she stay where she is or not go at all. I have thought "well, if I disagree with the teacher THAT BADLY then I will just teach it myself"....but I already am doing SOOOOO MUCH. My dh is also involved in our particular denomination on a state-wide level, where we travel quite a bit. Sometimes I feel that doing VBS, teaching and traveling with Dh and helping put on conferences is enough...but then again, here is the class my dd is going to be in.....I "can" teach it, since I personally know that the heart of this teacher is not in it and I totally disagree with her lifestyle, etc. but ....ughhh! I am just rambling! Thinking out loud! (ok...so you notice, I started this post thinking that I had it all figured out, and I sat here and typed myself into a quandarry again! :001_smile:)
  12. ok...yeah....I told Dh that something was wrong with MY computer....glad to realize it was not jsut me!
  13. i understand the quote it just seems like i have heard it before....maybe I haven't....either:D way, it is good!
  14. Ahhhh! VACATIONS!!! Oh, the JOY,......oh the MISERY! I remember the same feelings as a kid. Which now, I am torn b/c we have not taken a real vacation since I have been married! (9 years!) HAVE FUN! Once you are there, you are there! Might as well make the most of it. Here's to hoping the weather cooperates!
  15. we have only had luck in cleaning bt TOTALLY taking the carseat apart and cleaning it. We put the cover in washer and hang out to dry. The problem is, the foam that keeps the carseat soft will fall apart in the washer so if it has mold on it....I am not sure what you would do
  16. Antica Shiree  I still like the names, but I am not sure where they came from adn WHY I liked them so much! I think Antica was from "To Kill A Mockingbird" or something?!
  17. I think I have slowly but surely became the one who "never says no" simply b/c I am doing church work, adn I figured I am supposed to. I think just by reading the responses that it is clear that I need to take some things off of my plate. I have way too much on there. My children and husband definatley DO suffer at times.
  18. yes, i know that Hands of A Child has a project pack on horses. Not sure if that is what you are looking for.
  19. I have seen the idea (and like it) about having the boys have one closet that is arranged in sizes . This way they can wear eachother's clothes when they have a growth spurt! no more taking things from closet to closet! I have not done this yet, but for my girls, I want to get them a NIGHTSTAND each. This wy they have something small that is ALL THEIR OWN to put their special things in.
  20. awwwww! Mine are so young , I can not imagine having to send them to camp. I feel for ya mama! I can imagine it is so hard!
