  1. Your child was me at that age. Seriously tiny mouth and all kinds of issues. I had an overbite. My dentist was pulling baby teeth left and right. I’m traumatized for life and scared of dentists now. My parents got super frustrated and took me to an ortho. He had a different plan. My ortho did headgear, an expander, and two rounds of braces. I’m so happy with my smile and I got to keep all my teeth. And he didn’t even pull any more baby teeth. My son has the same issue. Our ortho will do an expander (herbst) appliance. I think that’s the name of it. It’s the “new†headgear apparently. It will bring his lower jaw forward and give him more room. It will correct his overbite and then he’ll get braces to straighten things. Ortho feels confident we’ll have room for his teeth. All that to say I might get another opinion. I got 5 or 6. I felt comfortable with this ortho and my son gets started in January.
  2. Oh dear. Then I’d have to bring my own snacks. I would hesitate to eat anything there.
  3. Very gross! I have everyone scoop some dip into their plate with their chips. And I keep a serving spoon for the dip. I abhor double dipping. The spoon thing in the jelly. Wow. Yuck! I would have to throw away the jelly jar after that! I also have a major issue with people who lick their fingers. Oh the germs! I just cringe. I’m all for tongs and serving spoons. I don’t want freshly licked fingers touching food.
  4. Thanks for the info. The ironic thing is that I never drink caffeine except on the occasion that I have a terrible headache. And I don’t eat a ton of acidic foods. But I’m glad I don’t have to go through an awful diet. Of course right now nothing sounds good and I don’t want to eat anyway. He did talk to me about those meds. He seemed pretty confident that this was the problem and that we could take care of it quickly. So I hope so. The pain is making me unable to sleep or to eat very much. I feel like such a wimp but I truly feel horrible.
  5. Thanks. He did mention H pylori. I have terrible pain that is more upper left. Not on the right. He doesn’t think hernia. I know he’ll absolutely do more tests if we haven’t figured it out. Thankfully he listens to me and I know he’d want to keep investigating this to help me. I hope it’s nothing else. I just want to feel better.
  6. Thanks for this info. I know nothing about any of this and I’m so overwhelmed. The treatment sounds so overwhelming. I’m slightly terrified. He did mention that bacteria. I had never heard of it. Ugh! This sounds awful! But it’s better than surgery for gallbladder or appendix. I was freaking out about that. I’m so thankful he listened to me. He’s very confident it’s a stomach thing. So I guess that’s the lesser of the evils.
  7. He doesn’t believe it’s gallbladder or appendix. He’s fairly certain it’s actually my stomach. He’s worried I have a bacterial infection in my stomach. Did labs and a breath test. I hope the results are fast.
  8. Thanks for all the thoughts. I was scared to google my symptoms and be told that I’m dying of some very rare but serious disease. I’m waiting at the dr now. I hope he’s able to help me start figuring it out.
  9. No. I never had the respiratory stuff. Only my little ones. I had the stomach thing. And now some crazy sinus pain. No coughing at all. I’ve pulled something after being sick with coughing and I remember that pain. This is different. It’s more in my stomach. It’s so weird. I also feel kind of bloated and just generally terrible. I’ve eaten Scrambled eggs. Yesterday I ate some toast and I also had eggs. It can’t be from over eating or anything like that. I’m so hungry but I don’t feel like eating because eating is painful.
  10. Thanks everyone. I looked up the symptoms of gallbladder issues and it does sound like what I’ve got going on. Definitely going to ask about that. That thought didn’t even occur to me. The pain does seem to radiate around my ribs. Curling up definitely helps. And yes, the guests are aware of the sickness here and are staying in a hotel. But it’s still so awful for all this to be happening now.
  11. Ok. I think I need to vent and then I need help from Dr. Hive. We had a respiratory thing and my little ones had a bad cough two weeks ago. Then we went on vacation. My youngest got the lovely stomach bug. When we returned home I came down with it. Now my son has it. Family arrives tomorrow for Christmas and I think I need to pass out hazmat suits. This has been just awful. Now I have a sinus infection I think. I’m having a horrific sinus headache and pain in the back of my head and neck. I’ve been awake since 1 am. I am so tired. Also, I’ve been having very weird stomach pain. It hurts right below and right up under my ribs. It is very sharp pain. The pain is worse after I’ve eaten and when I’m sitting or standing. It’s better when I lie down. It hurts to breathe or stand up straight. I wasn’t feeling awesome before he stomachvirus so I thought it was part of that I guess. Now I’m so much worse. It hurts to move. I’m totally over the stomach virus but the pain is worse. It can’t be related to that. What on earth could be wrong with me? I’m starting to panic. I have an appointment in two hours with my GP. I called crying and they fit me in this morning. What questions should I ask? I am totally overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin. I have never had this type of weird stomach pain before. Please help me think through what could be going on and what I can do to get relief. I just want to go cry in bed. UPDATE You all are so sweet to check on me! My labs came back good but showing a slight infection. The dr attributes it to the fact that I’m trying to get over the stomach virus. My H pylori test has not come back yet. However I am feeling a little better. I’m hoping it is just the horrible stomach virus that took me out and nothing else. I should know tomorrow. However, I’ve had some very sad news. My cousin’s two sons were in a terrible car accident. The younger one is ok but the older boy has a severe brain injury among other things. I am devastated. Here’s the news article if you’re interested. I would very much appreciate prayer for my family. https://www.google.com/amp/kfor.com/2017/12/20/oklahoma-teen-in-critical-condition-following-crash/amp/
  12. I was thinking it’s like when people write “wahlaâ€. It’s “voila†people! Argh! But I guess this one is legitimate. But my first thought was that it was written by people who can’t read or spell well!
  13. I’m sorry! I have it right now. I was so so sick yesterday. So awful!
  14. I’m thinking about doing Essentials in Writing with my son. He’s not ready for WWS even at a slow pace. And even though I have the CAP books, he specifically asked me for something a little more independent. So we might jump to that for a few years. Totally crazy! With my oldest we did CAP for a few years and are now in WWS. That worked well.
  15. My dd is doing a Tiner science book. She is using history from master books. She does mastering essentials math. She does a vocab book and logic books from critical thinking co. She also does Bju science online. She’s also reading hakim books alongside her history. She does Latin for children. All of these are very independent.
  16. Following! I can’t handle the Shutterfly books. Too complicated. Too many choices. It never seems to save my work. I need something easier with fewer choices that won’t take hours.
  17. True. But we can’t do any nuts or seeds. I’ve never found Paleo to work. And of course we have to avoid eggs, gluten, dairy and several fruits. Sigh. I wish I could find awesome resources that didn’t require a million substitutions. I guess I’m stuck figuring it out. I think during the holidays the food allergies really overwhelm and depress me. Blah! I should just probably find a nutritionist again.
  18. Can you tell me what you think about it? What are the recipes like?We have so many food allergies that I wonder if any book like this would be helpful.
  19. And I agree with other posters that you really need more details. I would want to know exactly how much detail is being given. And I would want to hear his perspective about what he’s discussing and why he thinks his level of detail is important and appropriate. There are super uncomfortable topics in the Bible. I think they can be covered at this age as long as it’s done in a careful way.
  20. I wonder if the pastor is thinking about age appropriateness. It sounds like he is going into more detail than is necessary. I think at this point you are very concerned and should go directly to the principal (even if he’s currently overwhelmed). It sounds like this class could focus on other issues or themes rather than have quite as much detail about the sex-themed topics. I think if your kids are uncomfortable then you need to go directly to the principal. If my kids felt uncomfortable I would listen and try to step in and find a solution. It really sounds like the pastor is giving too much detail or context for kids that age. I’m an adult and some of that stuff makes me horribly uncomfortable. These things are in the Bible so there’s going to be mention of them in a bible class. But I don’t think it needs to be a focus. Honestly there is so many other themes in the Bible to focus on. Sounds like he should rethink his topics.
  21. I’m following because we have this problem as well. We also can’t have nuts, eggs, or peanuts. My kids have been making plant based protein shakes for after their swim practice. But I need other easy snacks.
  22. Ok I bought the online Life Science during their sale. Now I need to order text books. I know I need the student text and the workbook. What else will I need? I want to buy as little as possible....lol!
  23. I love any oil that smells great! 🤗
  24. Sure. My kids love anything citrus in the morning when we do school. Citrus Blend or Citrus Passion are favorites. At Peace is nice when we’re having a rough day. I have Ouchie in a roller bottle and it’s seriously amazing for mosquito bites or small cuts and bruises. I diffuse Immune Strength when we’re sick. They also have Flu Time but I haven’t tried it yet. I diffuse lavender in the evening. Peppermint is great for when we have a cough. Purify is great too. I diffuse that during sickness. Eucalyptus is supposed to be good for coughs but I have asthmatics so I’m not comfortable using that one. I’ve read it can be a problem sometimes. I keep it pretty basic. I do feel like when I diffuse the immune one at the first sign of sickness that not everyone comes down with whatever sickness we have at the house. Whether it works or not my house smells good and I feel like I’m trying to do something. My kids love choosing our oil for the day and my hubby even enjoys the scents. And I love that the prices are reasonable and the company has great customer support. No selling to others. No minimums. I even have one of their diffusers and really like it. So I’m a huge fan of their stuff. I’ve tried both YL and doTerra. I liked their scents but not the push toward buying and selling. I was so thankful a friend told me about this company. Now I don’t have to worry about that.
